I am sure my story is a lot like everyone else's story.....I was actually very thin as a child. I wore "slim" sized jeans and my mom used to always tell me how lucky I was I didn't get the family butt! But, when I hit puberty all that started to change. I started developing and even though I was still slender, I thought that I was fat from the age of twelve and that never changed. I also remember being allowed to eat tons of sweets and snacks when I was younger. My mom thought I had a great metabolism and never really regulated the quality or quantity of food I was eating between meals. It eventually caught up to me. I would say by the time I was fifteen, I was overweight, reaching the obese point. My senior year of high school, I was right around 200 lbs. I stayed the same until I had a baby. I didn't gain much weight during my pregnancy, but my body changed. I used to be able to hide my stomach in jeans --not any more. I really can't hide myself in any clothes anymore. I divorced a little over a year ago and have put on twenty lbs.
I have a couple friends and acquaintances who've had the surgery and started to learn a lot about it then. I started to think MAYBE this was something I could do. I had tried Weight Watchers, Atkins, E-Diets, Weigh Down Workshop, Phen/Fen, even worked with a dietician at my doctor's office --I always had some success, but only to gain the weight back and then some. The turning point came for me when my blood pressure reading became elevated. I decided it was time to take action. Since my divorce, I went back to school, got a new job, and have been raising two girls on my own...I can do this!
