Where to begin?  Actually my story is similar to everyone here with diets and the Pain of weight loss and gains...

I am female, 75 yo, married 49 yrs, (11/30/68) two sons, one married with two most handsome grandsons born 2/15/12... my 2nd
grandson 7/14/15.  My other handsone son is a very busy businessman.

I was approved for surgery and scheduled VSG for July 30, 2013.  I am so ready and excited for the future.

I had diabetes for twenty+ years.  Type 1.5 meaning very little insulin produced....I took insulin via a pump.  My complications due to diabetes, which is a warning that diabetes is BAD...I am visually impaired so lost my career as a realtor....can't drive anymore!!  Lost my independence but have gotten used to it, sort of :)...I had kidney failure and went on dialysis.  I was placed on the transplant list and waited 17 mos before I got the good news that I was to go down to UM/Jackson Hosp in Miami, FL for my Kidney and Pancreas transplant on 4/21/03...My donor was a 17 yo young lady who passed away but thank her parents for the GIFT OF LIFE to me and 5 others..... After the 14 hr. surgery I was off dialysis and no more insulin.  Not diabetic either....However, still suffer all the damage that diabetes caused.  Being overweight is NOT good for diabetics!!  So anyone who is diabetic, whether Type 1, 1.5 or 2, this damage and complications are to real !!

OK, the good news is that I am healthy and looking forward to having this VSG surgery.

Wt...(cough cough) 215 lbs, 5'4.5"...shrunk 3 in. and BMI 36.9. I lost 17 lbs and so far kept that off.

Update:  It is now 2018 and I am still doing well following my Sleeve surgery.  Gained 10 lbs but I want to lose that extra 10 lbs.  My wt would have been perfect for 5'7"...:)  I do have issues with balance do to the diabetic neuropathy (foot numbness) and diabetic retinopathy (impaired retinas).  My eyes and brain don't know where each other are  :) so I have to use a cane which is no problem, excellent support.  If I were to look away from the front vision I start to walk like someone who had a few too many so the cane prevents that.

On a happier note.  I love orchids and some are now showing signs of going to bloom.  I belong to the Garden Club here in my area.  Learning lots about plants, bugs (they are very necessary), our planet....it goes on and on...

I suppose that is it for now... :)

SO FAR SO GOOD!
