I'm a 38 year old wife and mother of a nine year old boy and twin girls who are six. I did this surgery not only for myself but for them as well. It was time to stop depriving them of a Mom who has energy, who wants to go the pool and the beach and who isn't self-conscious all the time.

In my mind, I have always been overweight. Looking back through pictures, I now realize that I really wasn't heavy as a child. If only I'd left well enough alone. After yo-yo dieting my whole life, it culminated in my weighing 250 lbs. YIKES!

It saddens me to think of how my weight has impacted my entire life. I think of all the things I would have tried or done differently if only I'd been skinny. I've wasted tens of thousands of dollars spent on every diet and gym out there, only to wind up in worse shape than I started. Buying new wardrobes every season to accomodate my fluctuating weight was getting ridiculous.

I finally decided to take charge of my weight and my life and went to see Dr. Jean-Baptiste about gastic bypass surgery. I went through all the pre-op clearances quite smoothly. What a pain in the neck all those doctor visits were. I did find out I was probably the healthiest fat person in America. My paperwork got submitted in August and I could not believe it...I got approved a week later! I was soooooooo excited I didn't know what to do with myself.

I had my surgery on August 27 and things went extremely well. I am greatly looking forward to my new life ahead. I'm no longer going to be on the sidelines of life...I'm going to get in the game!
