I've never really thought that WLS was going to be an option I'd have to choose for myself.  I had no issues growing up or in highschool with my weight (mostly from keeping active with sports) but when I met my husband about 3 years ago, everything took a turn.  I was happy.  We all know what happens when we are happy.  We don't care what we look like anymore, we are just happy we found the right one.  On our wedding day, I weighed a whooping 263 pounds.  That was my heaviest and I couldn't believe I let myself go.  My husband and I started eating right and exercising and I lost a good 40 pounds.  Little did I know, you can get pregnant very easily when you loose lots of weight at one time.  So, with my pregnancy I gained a good 50 pounds which puts me right back to where I was plus some.  Now at a good 280 pounds - I've had enough.  I'm 5'8" and carry my weight well but that is still a lot of weight to be carrying around.

I watched my mother get the bypass done about 4 years ago, my cousin get it done about 2 years ago and both my sisters got it done last year.  I've seen what this surgery can do for you.  I can see the life that it will give you.  I've seen the struggle, the pain, and everything that has to deal with getting this done.  I have the support and love of everyone around me but yet I'm still scared as h*ll to get it done.  I don't think I'm scared of the aftermath, I'm more scared of the surgery itself.  Being knocked out and not in control of your own breathing and the things that could possibly go wrong.  But I have made up my mind that this is something I want and although I'm scared, it will make me stronger in the end.  Plus, I'm not going to let both my little sisters go through it and then me chicken out!

My husband and I decided to do this together.  We are getting them done a month apart just so there is someone healthy to take care of the baby while the other is still recooperating from the surgery.  We both attended a seminar in April.  We loved how nice the Dr's were and how easy it was to talk to everyone about the surgery.  A few weeks later we scheduled our appointment with the Dr and the dietician.  Over the last few months we have gotten the tests done that are required by our insurance and are now just waiting out our 6 month diet to be able to submit all the information to the insurance company.

This is where we are and I'm excited and nervous but I'm ready for my new life to start!!!
