Noah is here!

Feb 22, 2010

Feb 22, 2010 - Noah Thomas Campbell was born on January 29Th at 3:56pm.   He weighed 7lbs and 3oz and was 18 inches long.   He swallowed amniotic fluid and had trouble breathing.    I didn't get to hold him until he was about 4 hours old and then it was only for a few minutes.  He was getting ready to be transferred to another hospital.

He was born in the middle of a snow storm.  The ambulance couldn't get him the hospital they had planned on.   He ended up going to a university hospital.  The neonatologist called me once he got there.   He told me he was doing much better with his breathing and didn't need to be put on CPAP after all.   Then he asked me if I had noticed the extra skin on Noah's neck.  I hadn't.   He told me that is a marker for downs syndrome, although he didn't think Noah had that.   He did say he would need genetic testing just to make sure that everything was O.K.

So I spent the night trying to wrap my head around the idea that my son "may" have something wrong with him.  At 8 that morning my MIL called and told my hubby that his Dad had passed away in his sleep.    Both his Mom and Dad had spent weeks in separate hospitals and had just recently gotten out.   This was pretty unexpected though.  To make matters worse Tom couldn't get home to be with his Mom because we had about 8 inches of snow and the roads hadn't been cleared yet.

To say it's been a rough month is an understatement.  On Jan 10 MIL went in the hospital.  On Jan 18Th FIL went in a different hospital.  Tom is an only child too.   On Jan 23rd I had to go on bed rest due to high blood pressure.   I moved in with my parents so they could help me with Hannah, since Tom was taking care of his parents.
Noah was born Jan 29Th, My FIL passed away 12 hours later on the 30Th.   Noah underwent every test in the world during his 4 days in the NICU.  We got to bring him home on Feb 2ND, the same day as my FIL receiving friends and funeral.
We got to spend the next 8 nights at home.    On Feb 10Th Noah turned blue on us.   He had RSV and ended up being admitted to children's hospital.  We spent the next 8 nights there.    We got to come home on the 18Th.  Hopefully we are here for good.

On a brighter side, the hospital food diet has done wonders for me.   I weigh 193.5 pounds.  FINALLY IN THE 100's!!!!!!!

Hannah is loving her baby brother.   So far she hasn't been jealous of him.  She's only pinched him once, so I consider that a success lol.   All of Noah's tests turned out normal!
