I am not really sure where to begin, so here goes.

As far as I can remember, I have always been the "thick girl" with the pretty face, personality, and friends.   I was always bigger than my parents and my siblings.  No one understood why because I was very active, playing volleyball, softball, dancing school, and loved to swim.  I mean could swim like a fish!  This was cute in elementary and somewhat in middle school.   I can remember truning 13 and my mom taking me to the doctor becasue I had gained weight and the rest of the household was small.  He told her that my body structure and metabolism was different than those of her and my siblings.  He told her, don't worry, it could also be "baby fat" and this will eventually fall off.

Once I got to high school, I developed and gained a little more weight, but maintianed my weight because I was still very active.  By this time, I was still playing recreational sports and was even in the marching band at school.  Well, before you know it, 4 years had come and gone.  All during this time, I never had an issue with self-esteem nor did I ever "FEEL FAT" or overweight.  I went onto college where I reall begin to notice that I was gaining more weight as the years progressed.  Away from home meant eating a lot fast food.  Something that I did not get while living with mom!  Before you knew it I was 5 years out of high school and heavier than I had ever been, but once again, never had a self esteem issue, still had friends, still had relationships, etc.

At 20 yrs old, I was pregnant.  This was the first time that I could recall my eyes pooping out of my head when the scale read "225 lbs."  Although this was pregnancy weight, I knew that if I had subtracted 20 lbs. I still would have been over 200 lbs.  Each year I kept saying that I would do something about it.  I tried, everhything you could think of weigt watcher's, Jenny craig,  Adipex, and any other diet that was out there.  NOTHING seemed to remain consistent.  I would lose 10 lbs. then gain 15, lose 20 lbs., gain back 5 more.  It was up and down, up and down.    Now, low and behold, the years have gone by and the weight has piled on.  No matter what I do, NOTHING seems to be consistent!

In 2001, I saw and read about Carnie Wilson, a celebrity who had undergone gastric bypass surgury.  For two years after that, I did my research on the procedure and knew that I wanted to have this done.  However, my issue was always with the insurance company.  I can remember a lot of insurance companies saying that this procedure was cosmetic.  Wel eight years later and more knowledge under my belt, I am happy to report that I am finally getting my procedure done.
