5 months post op
Jul 08, 2013
I was 5 months post of as of 7/5/13. I have lost 124 lbs. I am still struggling on getting enough protein in not because it doesnt fit but because as I work I forget to eat. If I don't eat every couple of hours I wont get in the recommended 90+ grams of protein a day. I usually get more than 50 oz of water. There has been only ONE day since surgery that I was able to get the vitamins in. Every single day is a struggle. Im at the point of hair loss. and its very bad. I do see some little strains or regrowth so that makes me happy. I feel so much better, I sleep better, and I move better.
I have significantly reduced the amount of antacids I take. and I am not longer as weak as I was pre-op. I have also noticed that the lactose intolerance has subsided! YAY for milk!
6 weeks post op DS..
Mar 19, 2013
Today it’s been six weeks since surgery...
I have been back to work since March 6th. It has not been easy because I am still very woozy.. I get in my fluids most of the time and at this point I haven’t counted my protein or carb intake. I started my vitamins and yesterday was the first day I got the entire Vitalady DS regimen down.
I hadn’t tolerated the shakes very well but I tried one a couple days ago and it didn’t make me feel bad so I've started them again.
At this point I eat a lot of cheese, yogurt, beans, and lunch meat. I've tried other things like chicken, steak, ribs but of course I spit out what I’m afraid to swallow.
At two weeks out I was vomiting and ended up in the ER. Then at three weeks I ended up back in the ER for vomiting and dehydration. I stayed there for a week. GAINED 5LBS while I was there! They decided to up my antacid to twice a day since all I threw up was acid. YUCK! I have since added Zantac because I could still feel the stomach acid.. Hopefully it settles soon.
I’m still pretty weak. Showering is exhausting and forget about washing laundry... But other than that I am very happy with my decision to have this surgery. It hasn't changed my life yet other than the above.. But I could have never lost 68 lbs on my own! 23lbs lost on pre op diet and 45lbs lost since surgery!
Band is gone! Ready for round 2!
Jan 14, 2013
After living for over a year with a slipped band eating only wet foods I slowly regained and even added some weight to myself. My Band was removed in emergency surgery in Nov of 2011. It had started to erode and the acid reflux was slowly eating away at my esophagus. Prior to having it removed I had been working with Dr Husted on getting a revision to DS. For whatever reason Dr. Husted was NOT a COE provider so that caused a denial, then out of nowhere he switched practices. I followed him and needless to say shortly after he disappeared. So I continued to work Dr. Juarez. I have since gotten approved for DS surgery. It is scheduled for 2/5/13! I am completely excited but this process has taken more than two years to accomplish!
