I have been overweight pretty much since about age 18. I remember being 145lbs at that time, but when trying to enlist in the military, I was told I was overweight and needed to loose 25lbs. That never happened. I somehow went from 145 to 210lbs in my 20's and I don't really know how. In my 30's I got to about 225lbs and now in my 40's, I reached my highest weight ever 250lbs.

I have seen many people who have this procedure done and how it has improved the quality of their lives and the health benefits. After thinking long and hard, I am ready to take this step to improve my own health and the quality of my life also.

I hesitated putting anything up on this site because I didn't want to jinx myself. My insurance required 6 months medical weight management, and what if I didn't complete it? Well I have done my six months, seen the psych doctor, took the 567 question MMPI personality test or whatever it is, and have completed my individual dietary evals, and got  8 years of medical records instead of the 5 years they asked for. As of yesterday, 09/24/2008 all my paperwork has been sent to the insurance company. Hopefully they will approve it and I can be scheduled for my gastric bypass.

Maybe early November
