5 Year Surgiversary!! 11/10/09

Well it's been 5 years since the new start of my new healthier life began. A lot has happen in this last year but mostly since the summer. As I look back on last year I find myself in such a different place. I met new friends from the support groups I've been attending. Hopefully some that will last a lifetime. I see my life taking a turn. Alas,, I have decided to leave the Support Groups behind me. I've been attending various ones for 4 and half years. I've learn many interesting things and have met quite a lot of people,, both pre-op and post-op. I think I've gotten all I can from them and I hopefully given just as much. I've modeled in 4 fashion shows, got my picture on the cover of the bariatric brochure at the Hospital and spoke at a lecture. My surgeon considered me a success story. But for some strange reason things took an ugly turn. Some drama got started and within a blink of an eye I lost someone who pledged his allegiance to me in one breath and turned on me in the next. I've learned a valuable lesson about people. Don't judge a book by the cover. They may seem perfectly fine on the outside until you open it and read a little bit. I'm lucky to have escaped quickly.. not like it was a long lasting relationship. Well you live and learn and try to persevere. It taught me to appreciate the true friends I have in my life and love the family that means the world to me.I recently found out that I am going to be a Grandma for the first time come this Summer. I'm so excited about it. To think if God hadn't given me this 2nd chance at life I might not have been here to see my grandchild. The gift of life is so precious. I have something to really look forward to. I'm also planning a trip to Aruba in May for our 25th Wedding Anniversary. Having this surgery has made this possible for me to look forward to with anticipation knowing I will be able to actually enjoy it. No asthma, hurting joints etc. Life is grand and my future looks promising!! Thanks and Glory be to God!! God Bless you all!!
