One Year Surgiversary!!!!!!!!!!

Feb 12, 2009

Today is the day...right about now, one year ago today, I was sitting in a holding room waiting to start my WLS journey.  In 365 days I have lost 135lbs!  I am so proud!  I am marking today with a very special gift to myself, my first tattoo.  I have always wanted a tattoo but said I would wait until I lost all of my weight, well, I did just that sooo off I go.  This has been a very exciting journey for me.  I am thrilled with my results, I may be 10lbs away from my personal goal but I will tell you, I am not at all disappointed.  I feel great, look fabulous and have truly a better life all the way around.  I am committing to myself and everyone that those last 10lbs will come off and I will continue to live the healthy lifestyle WLS has given me.  I have been given a second chance at life and I want to live and live healthly!!

One Year later....

Feb 10, 2009

I haven't blogged through most of my journey and now I am bearing down on my one year mark.  I think I have done extremely well.  I have lost 133lbs in 12 months, I am 11lbs away from my goal weight of 145. Little depressed about that but I keep reminding myself the feat I have accomplished.  This has been the best journey of my life. I am happy, healthy and recently I found out I am an inspiration to others...Thanks Tiff and her family!  You guys have really helped me understand the impact I can have on someone's life..  I am commiting the next several months to shedding those last 11 lbs and seeing 145, I think that is a sensible weight for someone who is 5'6 3/4 in.  But truly I should be happy at 157. To all who read this and are considering surgery all I have to say is in my situation its the best thing I ever did and I would do it a thousand times over again!

Well things are going well.  I have lost 23lbs and counting. I am struggling to get in all of my protien and it worries me but I will prevail, I know I will.  My clothes are starting to fit a lot better. I haven't shrunk out of any of them but I did wear the same size for many years. I guess I was blessed with the way I carry my weight.  Overall I think I am doing well.

You know my friends told me( ones who are post op) how fast the weight can come off but wow! I weighed in at 269.8 this morning. That is 17.7 lbs in a WEEK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am back to work. Doing well. My left side hurts the worst, but the pain the toerable.  I haven't gotten any comments from anyone but I guess because of how I carry my weight it may sometime before people start to notice.  I'm up and moving around which is really helping. Starting pureed tomorrow, can't wait :-)  I'll update more soon!

Wow, can't believe I am already post -op! I ahve lost 12 pounds in 5 days! Its amazing! I am doing very well.  I am already back to work. I had lap r-n-y. I have an all desk job so I told'em its just like barking orders from the couch but I'm at my desk!  Today was my first day back. Made it all day, got a little rough the last couple of hours but  nothing I couldn't handle.

My aftercare has been absolutely wonderful. My love of my life has been taking very good care of me, making sure I eat and having my meals ready for me. Reminding me to drink and making sure I am taking my vitamins and protien as directed. I don't know where I would be with out him!  Chris has been my angel at home through this!

Dr. Stephen Marshall is a brilliant surgeon! My incisions are small and I have minimal brusing! I would highly reccomend him to anyone! He is a tough cookie, he doesnt' want just anyone signing up for the bariatric program. Doc really makes sure you understand what you are doing, which I think is an A1 doc!  For those folks in my area is the OSF St. Francis Bariatric Program.  Dr. Marshall is with Peoria Surgical Group, however if you call that office they will refer you to the program coordinator.  If you want any additional information and are in the Central Illinois area I would be happy to share with you, just send me a note!

I will keep updating, promise!

Oh when does the gas subside! I am just having an awful time with it!
