2012 New Year (3yrs 7 mos out)

Jan 05, 2012

Happy New Year to all and best wishes for you on your journey ~

I cannot believe so much time has passed since my last update.  I am weighing between 140 and 142 and have lost over 120 lbs! I am closer than ever to reaching my personal target weight: 135 lbs.

For the past year or so,  I did hit a plateu and stayed at 150 lbs for the longest time.  But then... after changing bad lifestyle & bad eating habits I had acquired I saw another drop and progess - that plateu had broken! Yaaaay.

So now I am closer than ever to my ideal personal target weight of 135lbs..less than 10 lbs to go. I don't fret, beat myself up or stress out over it.  =)  Learning to be kinder and gentler to myself in a healthier way!  I will get there eventually..or maybe not at all..who knows =) But it's all good.

In retrospect, I see how far I've come along: the physical changes in my weight loss - honestly, I see these old photos of myself and I cannot believe the physical transformation.   I have changed and still changing mentally and emotionally and even Spiritually.  Adjusting to my body and the new experiences have been interesting.  I noticed I am aware of the way people interact with me and in turn how I interact with others.  I try not to make comparisons of the old and new Anna (it's hard though).  It's alll interesting...and I take it all in.

I will end with this. I am so happy and grateful...and I do not regret my surgery decision that has been life changing in so many ways

So this was just a quick check in update.

God bless and take care ~ Anna

1 YEAR! 100 lbs gone

Jun 18, 2009

Pinch me..someone pinch me!   So 6/10 was my 1yr RNY surgery and I have met my 100 lb weight loss goal as well.  !!!!  I'm so amazed and grateful.

What a year and it just flew by.  I'm still adjusting my continual weight loss and the bodily changes.  As well I'm still adjusting to the emotional and mental changes too.   My outlook and perspective on life and family and relationships just seem to be evolving and changing; for the better I'd say.

My kids and hubby seem very happy as well...my little six year old is thrilled she can interlock her hands around my waist.  Now my hubby can actually pick me up...both firsts!!!!  My son's who is 12 yrs old gives me much kudos:  "Cool mom. Cool! " with an approving head nod.     Hey, for a 12yr old that is serious praise!

My confidence level overall has shot up but I find I still struggle with the behavior traits of the old self (self doubt; low self esteem etc..)  I keep praying and asking God to guide my path, my thoughts, etc...and that I have the ability to listen and apply.

Now for the fun part:

6/10/2008 I was clocking in at 256.
6/10/2009 I'm clocking in at 155/156...it does vary on time of day etc, but I'm taking that 100 lb loss THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

For old time sakes I went into Lane Bryant and Torrid to try on a size 14 pants - get this: TOO BIG!   =)  I am amazed and cheering inside...I lived in those stores for years and years.      Now I'm in a flux in trying to find my true size clothes..what a FUN dilemna right?  I can live with that..but I do need some new clothes soon.

I will be updating my new pictures.....speaking of which...I cannot recognize myself when I look at old pictures - actually it sort of makes me sad...I know the hidden pain behind that smile.    So that is my drive to keep fit, keep healthy and keep going!  In the words of some good friends: Let go and let God!

I wish you all the best in your journeys!

Much Love,
Anna    *Now off to find some more yummy Gastric Friendly dessert recipes*

Overdue update 5-29-09

May 29, 2009

Wow...its' almost coming on my 1 yr anniversay for my WLS, 6/10!
Currently my weight is at 159 (it tends to vary from 162 to 159).  What a year of changes and transformations this has been.  I'm still processing the visible changes my body has undergone since the surgery, the weight has melted off and I've almost hit that 100 lb goal mark!!  I'd sure like to hit that mark before my 1 year.

As for the changes...wow! Wow and Wow!   I am still processing the new me ~ and I like what I see.  I really really try NOT to look at myself when I pass a mirror or glass window...but it's hard not to.   I see a reflection back, someone I'm not used to seeing ...honestly, something I tried to avoid looking into before.    Putting aside the obvious physical changes I've undergone, it's very interesting the internal changes: Emotional and Mental.

My self confidence and self esteem have just blossomed. There is a peace/calmness mixed with this released happiness.   I am still trying to understand it all myself, so forgive me if it sounds hopscotchy.

I feel good and feel I'm in a good place right now.   I have a great support network: Hubby, kids, family and friends.

The battle with food is there but just on a different front...I hope to make peace one day!   Now I search to find the healthy enjoyable foods that my body will accept...I've not always made good on that, yes I do eat some of the wrong foods - hence the battle - but I get right back on track and start again!   I love finding Gastric Bypass friendly recipes!!! Yummy Yummy.  Yes, I do love my food...now it's a healthy love =)

I will check back in and provide another update soon.   Again, much love to all those on their respective journerys.  God bless!

Anna

10/29 Post Op: 4 months and 3 weeks

Oct 29, 2008

Hi Hi,

Just a quick update...so after checking over the last few days...yep the scale actually read: 195!  Wowzers.    I have made it under the 200 mark.  I cannot even remember the last time I was under 200!

MILESTONE!!!  MILESTONE!!!  MILESTONE!!!   Boy, that just put a spring in my step...wooo hooo!

I am feeling good, taking my vitamins, trying to keep the right food intake going on ( I do slip sometimes..) and so on.   I need to kick up the exercise though.   =)

Okay...well just wanted to just give an update...send my support and well wishes to all those on their respective journeys!

10/15/08 Post Op: 4 months and 1 week

Oct 15, 2008

Hey hey!  Wow how times just flies by.  So it's been about 4months since my surgery.  Again, very grateful to our Lord that everything has gone well with no major complications or issues.

Currently I am at the stage where I am seeing a lot of hair "thinning/loss".  But I know this is temporary...thank goodness for hats!

I am on regular diet - trying to get my protein in and remembering to take my daily vitamins!   Sounds easy and simple right?  No problem?  Well, I tend to be forgetful so I have to constantly remind myself to be take care of myself and my health.  One of the reasons for being unhealthy and overweight was putting work and everything first, before me.  Being a mom, wife, dedicated employee, etc...my perspective post-op and changed and I see the importance of taking care of  "Anna"...no one else is going to do it!   So it's been a transition in that regard..but I welcome and embrace it.

An example: I think I could have lost more weight than I have, if I kept up the exercise.  I am definitely lighter than before, but since I have never been active - always sedentary - it's a challenge to force myself to get movin' and grovin'  !   So I take it day-by-day and focus on what I can do.

On a positive note:I feel my confidence coming back, my self-esteem growing...even my perspective and outlook in other areas in my life has changed.  Thank you Lord!  Again, I must stop and recognize our Father above.  Keep me on that path and guide my steps.   Because I will fall and stumble and even walk astray at times....I know He is ever Faithful.  =)

My husband likes the metamorphasis I am going through as well, both inside as well as the external    What a cheearleader he is for me!

I have gone from size 24 pants so a tight size 18.  I'll be happy when my 18's are as loose as my 24 .  But I am trying not to fixate on the numbers too much...hard to do when you have been a big girl,  wearing big sizes.

Okay...well just wanted to just give an update...send my support and well wishes to all those on their respective journeys!

7/24 Post Op: 1 month and 2 weeks

Jul 24, 2008

Hey hey!  So I had my surgery on 6/10.   So far there have been no complications, issues or problems.  No complaints...thank you Lord!

I am now eating "normal" foods.  I finished the Soft Foods portion a few days ago.    I am finding that I am almost scared to start eating, odd huh?  All though days of drinkinig protein shakes and hunger pains ...and now I am a little shy to start eating.  My Surgeon's office - Surgilite in Torrance, CA is great. The Staff is very informative and supportive so when I have my concerns I just ring them up and they talk me through.   I learned alot....like, "Smart Bites".  =)

7/10 1 month and 1 day post surgery

Jul 11, 2008

Woots! I am so excited...through God's mercy and grace I have made it successfully post op 1 month and a day with no complications or problems!
So yesterday I had my 1 month post op check in with my Surgeon, here are my weigh in stats:

Highest weight: 256 lbs
Pre-surgery: 246 lbs
Current weight:  227 lbs

Current total weight loss: 29 lbs

So far so good the only downside I have experienced is low energy and being tired at times.  The doctor says it's possibly because I may not be getting enough liquids and protein.  But that has been it.  =o)

6/10 1 week out!

Jun 17, 2008

Yay! I am successful one week loser  lol

I get excited about the little things.   I had my RNY surgery 1 week ago today! Almost the minute =)

No major problems or issues to report in, just a little aches/pains but nothing that is intolerable.   My only issue is I am just not hungry so I have to really be diligent about drinking my protein shakes and water.  Since I am not hungry,  honestly just tend to forget sometimes.   After a quick call in to my Dr's office, they really honed in  the affects of becoming dehydrated, hospitalization, etc and that is a path I don't go down.

So, no need to tell me twice =)

I have been walking 2 - 3 times a day ranging from 15, to 30, to an hour depending on how much energy I have.

Okay no more boring stuff....wait....  I will say this.  After my surgery I do find my sleeping patterns and dreams are just slightly off.  Weird.

6/13 Day home from Surgery!

Jun 13, 2008

So folks, my RNY surgery was on Tues, 6.10.  Just a few minor aches and pains, nothing to was too extreme and something that a pain killer couldn't fix.

Wed., 6/11 Spent most day after surgery still mostly resting...very tired.  But i did try to walk and do my breathing exercises as much as possible.  No hunger , so I didn't' really eat.

Thur, 6/12 Still a little groggy but I could feel my strength coming back.   Took a nice warm shower and that just rejuvinated me.  I actually drank some lunch and some dinner.   Got some good walkin in, but those darn stocking they gave me kept rolling down and cutting my circulation off my knees hehe.

Friday 6/13  Am back home!!  Feel great to be in familiar surroundings and back home with my family.  I will say that I noticed I had some vaginal bleeding and do not believe it's directly related to my Period/that was 2 weeks ago.   So I need to keep my eye on this and if continues I'll check with the emergency room.

1 week prior to Surgery!

Jun 02, 2008

Okay, Wow! Pinch me...is the time already here? !!!

No, please don't pinch me   I just can't believe after months of going to my Dr's visits and planning that the time is almost here. It's just around the corner.   I mean this time next week I will be at the Hospital prepping for 6/10 surgery date.  It's so very surreal..exciting..with a sprinkle of anxiety/anticipation  =)

So I am on day 1 my liquid intake - no solids.  First of a few months actually but let me take baby steps here and break it down into bite size pieces (so to speak).    My only goal is to make it through this week on liquids until Surgery!  Luckly my job is insanely busy so that is a distractor for me!    Then it's a whole new world.

I will be taking my measurements again soon and updated "before" pictures this week.  I have been given good suggestions, like to take a picture in the same outfit, same spot each week.

Okay that's it for now...just really an update.

Take care all while on your journey and be good to you!
