Updating my goals

Nov 09, 2008

Goal 1: Reached early March- To reach Twoterville (under 300lbs)

Goal 2: I didn't make this one, and since surgery is past, it will not happen.  Reach 289 before surgery.

Goal 3: Reached May 2, 2008 - BMI Under 40, which is 260 lbs (the weight at which I would not qualify for surgery).

Goal 4: Reached May 9, 2008 - Under 250 lbs

Goal 5: Reached July 11, 2008 - Be over half way to my goal - 232 pounds.  I will have lost 83 of 165 pounds.  82 pounds until goal.

Goal 6: Reached July 11, 2008 - BMI Under 35, which is 229 lbs (the weight at which I would not qualify for surgery with co-morbs)

Goal 7: Reached August 10, 2008 Weight of 214 - have lost over 100 pounds. Century Club!!!

Goal 8: Reached September 17, 2008 Make it to Onederland!  (under 200 lbs)

Goal 9: Reached September 17, 2008 No longer "obese" BMI, just "overweight" of less than 30 BMI: 199 pounds.

Goal 10: Reached November 5, 2008 Under 190 - this was my all time low weight of my adult life (which lasted a few months cuz then I got preggo).  And at that point, I will wear non-plus size clothes!! It was at 180, but there's no way I have ever weighed 180...I'm smaller now at 188 than I ever was even in middle school. Go figure! Can fit into size 10 jeans (one pair of 8's) and wearing L and XL shirts.

Goal 11: To be under 175 (just because I need another goal
) -
25 pounds to my ultimate goal!

Goal 12: Normal weight BMI less than 24.9 = 164 pounds.

Goal 13: Weight of 157 - I will have lost over half of my body weight - loss of 158 pounds!

Goal 14: 150 pounds. Evaluate to see if I feel I need to lose more.

Woo-Hoo! I look younger than I am!!

Nov 09, 2008

I've been told before that I look younger than I am. But this weekend there were actually several people that thought I was in my early 20's!! Woo-hoo...I turned 30 in July!

It's quite exciting to see that people see me younger...I'm sure they have to rethink it when they see that I have a six year old son LOL...

Anyway, life is going pretty good. I went to a Spiritual Gifts workshop at my church this weekend and it was great. I learned a lot about myself that I didn't know. Adam went too, and I learned a lot about him too. I love this church we are part of here, and I'm really excited about where I'm headed!!

Also, I have a few people that I have met, or had contact with online who are interested in a support group here! YAY!!  So I'm on my way to planning that. I just need to figure out where we would have it. A lady I met said that when she moves into her new house, we can have it there, but it's still being built...so I need to find somewhere in the meantime.  So that's my next task.

Oh...and this weekend...I fit into a pair of size 8 jeans...that were wearable out in public!!! It  was so exciting.  Mostly 10's though now...but soon...thos will be too big too!

8 months post-op.

Oct 27, 2008

Well, today I am 8 months post-op and my life has changed dramatically!!

I started this journey at a high weight of 315 pounds. Today (or last week really) I was down to 192.5. That is a loss of 122.5 pounds. WOW!

I have more energy...except for today LOL (it's been one of "those" days). I'm just exhausted.

I've gone from a size 26/28 jean to a size 10!!! How incredible is THAT?? WOW!  And from a size 30/32 or 5x shirt to an XL to a Large.

I have 42.5 pounds to go to my goal. I have a feeling I will end up in quite a small size...if I'm already fitting into size 10 at 192.5 pounds.  And that's still with all my extra skin.

I can't wait until I get to goal and can start thinking about plastic surgery...ok, I'm already thinking about it, but I know that won't come for quite a while.  I know I will want a lower body lift and a breast lift. No question about that. Beyond that, I'm not sure what I will want. I need to start doing more research for it. Because I am also going to have to start saving for it. The only way we'll do it is to pay cash for it.  This means I will probably be doing it in Mexico...which is fine with me. I just have to research it all, but I'm good at that anyway.

So, I can't find our camera, but I have a picture of myself trying on my size 10 jeans in the dressing room...so I figured I would post those for now. Hopefully we will find it soon and I can them posted.

Still struggling with body image...will it ever end?

Oct 26, 2008

So I talked with Brandy on the phone tonight (thanks for calling, girl!).

In the midst of this conversation, I realized something.  Ok, I KNOW and have known that I struggle with the whole body image thing, and people say it takes a long time to get through that.

Well here's the weird thing...when you're a size 26/28, you look at size 10 and think, wow, that's SO tiny. I will NEVER get there.  Right? Everyone know what I'm saying?

Well today, looking at the jeans at Wal-Mart, I picked up a pair of 10's and said, wow, these don't look that small. They look kind of big. Picked up an eight, and I thought the same thing.

Did they just change all the sizes on me here? What's going on? Sizes 8 and 10 used to look TINY, but now they don't. Now a size 10 looks big.  It shows what kind of warped-ness my brain is experiencing.

Size 10 is not big. Size 10 can be purchased in any "regular" clothing store. It's not plus size, and cannot even pretend to be plus size. It's not like I can still say I shop at Lane Bryant...now (thankfully) I can no longer shop there. Well I suppose if I want to go for the baggy look, I can. But not if I want to look nice.

Anyway, that's my rambling for now!

I fit into a size 10!!!

Oct 25, 2008

How totally insane is that!! I put a pair of size 10's on, and of course I had to buy them LOL.

When I started this journey I hoped I would someday wear a size 12, but knew that I would feel good in a 14.  And I am beyond that...with still another 40 pounds to go...what will I look like when I'm done?  I guess I will probably be tiny.

I was talking to my mom today, she said, "don't get too small." I had to tell her that it really has to do with bone structure. Some people's bone structure won't allow them to go past a certain size or that they won't look good at a certain weight.

All my life I had people tell me, "you're just big-boned."  But you know what? I'm not big boned, I actually have a small frame. I was just FAT!!  So I guess we'll see how I turn out in the coming months. I better take a look at my goals and see if I have met anymore!

Wow! Almost 8 months out!

Oct 23, 2008

Well,  we are moved and getting settled in here in South Carolina. We found an EXCELLENT church and we're enjoying life here!

So this morning, I put on a pair of my husbands jeans! They are a size 34. I really never thought that would happen.  I am down to 192.5 now...it's a very strange feeling to be able to put his pants on. I think I almost weigh less than him too.

I was talking to someone yesterday, and I told her about my RNY, and she said I looked "normal." WOW!! It's kinda crazy for me to look "normal" instead of HUGE and FAT!!

I was pretty stressed during our move and didn't do so well with protein and vitamins, and I'm just starting to get better with it all, so I know that helps. Last week when I weighed I was at 196.5....so over a couple of weeks with our move I only lost about 2 pounds. But this last week I lost 4!!! YAY!

Oh! I have this pair of size 32 Calvin Klein Jeans that I bought several years ago on clearance (I think I paid something like $5 for them) for my hubby. He wasn't quite down to 32's but he wanted to be and so I got them to help inspire him...that didn't work. So I put them on this morning. I had to lay on the bed to button them, and I couldn't zip them, but still, I was able to pull them up past my knees and even button them!  Soon I will be able to wear them...and let me tell you, I will wear them out until they're too big!

I also did my measurements today! I have lost a total of 18 inches just from the area below my belly button...my big apron as they call it. 15 inches from my breasts (and because they're so saggy I measure with my bra on, otherwise they would measure much smaller LOL). 14 inches from my hips!  Those numbers are just amazing to me!

Anyway...just wanted to post a new update! Life is certainly busier here! But it's good!

ONE-DERLAND!!!

Sep 17, 2008

Woo-Hoo!! I finally made it to ONE-DERLAND!! YAY!

And I got my height measured...I'm 5' 8.5"...so my BMI is now UNDER 30...just barely.  But I'm now overweight! No longer obese!

And while I'm still not at my lowest weight, it's weird because I am DEFINITELY at my lowest SIZE...I put on a pair of size 12 jeans. I am wearing them comfortably RIGHT NOW! They are a brand that runs a little larger, but they are size 12! The tag says "12" on it! I'm so happy and so excited!  Even at my lowest weight of about 180, I was still wearing 16's...so my body is strange...maybe i just have more muscle now? LOL.

Protein and other stuff...

Aug 20, 2008

So I can FINALLY tolerate protein powder! YAY! And I've even found stuff I REALLY LIKE!  How cool is that!  So Saturday was my first day getting all my protein ~120 grams!  And I have every day since! YAY!

My favorite?  I do 8oz heated water (up to about 155 degrees - over 160 degrees will curdle the protein), to that I add 1 1/2 scoops of Champion Nutrition Pure Whey Stack Cocoa-Mochaccino Protein Powder, some davinci sugar free caramel syrup, and a scoop of upcal-d calcium.  I give it a whirl in my magic bullet - literally a few seconds...and it's mixed up and nice froth on the top.  YUMMM!

I know I won't make it to my labor day goal of under 200 pounds.  But I'm ok with that - I've hit a stall, and thanks to these boards, I think I understand it.  I spent most of late high school, early college days at this weight - yes it was a long time ago, but I spent so much time there, I think maybe my body is reluctant to go much lower.  So it might take a bit to push through this...we'll see how it goes though.  I'm hoping I can drop into Onderland here before we move - which we drive out six weeks from today!

Well, that's it for now...talk to you later!

Just an update - and five pounds from my next goal!!

Aug 04, 2008

Hey everyone...it's  been a while...we were  traveling  around California  for a few weeks.  Now we are home  (have been for about  a week now).

I went to visit Vitalady today - and try some protein  powders - gotta find some mixes I can drink - and like.  Isopure is so expensive.  So far my tummy is doing good - but I'm not sure if I like the taste so much.  Maybe I can get used to it??  Hmmm...or maybe I just need to play around with flavors more?  I'll do some searching for good protein powder recipes.

Ok...so I am just over 5 months out (five months was on my 30th b-day - July 27th).  I weighed myself today (at vitalady's since dh threw out the scale).  I weighed in at 219!!! YAY!!  That means a loss of 96 pounds!  69 pounds to go until I am at my goal of 150 pounds!!!

I am wearing 16/18's now!  Even ones without the W attached to the end!  So that means I can wear regular size clothes!!  I fit into some shorts that I wore when I was 180 pounds...BUT they were too tight to wear in public.  LOL.  But I don't think it's going to take 40 pounds to get there.

My next mini-goal is 214 pounds - that will mean I have lost 101 pounds - over 100 pounds gone!  That's still five pounds away, but maybe I can get there by my six month mark?
