4 1/2 years out.

Jun 11, 2012

It's been four and a half years since my lap band surgery. I have to say that I'm doing well. I'm down to 166 pounds now. I still haven't met my original goal of 155 but I'm close. I'm not going to beat myself up if I never make it. I know I will but then again it's just a number on the scale.
I had abdominal skin removal surgery in December 2010.  That took a little time to heal but in the end it was so worth it.
Im so grateful to God for keeping His hand on me through all of this. I couldn't have had the success that I've had without Him.
It's been difficult at times but I've made it through. Praise God!!
Peace to all.

It's been 1 year 8 months since my surgery.  So far I've lost 84 pounds with another 21 to reach my goal.  I still have issues with eating certain foods.  Nothing that can't be worked around.  Mainly it's just protein.  Last week I went to see a plastic surgeon for skin removal.  I'm waiting to hear back from that.  Other than that life keeps going on.  Kids will be heading back to school next Tuesday.  My husband is going for naval training and I'm still working.
If any of you know anything about plastic surgeons in Memphis I would love to have input.
Thanks!

One Year Anniversary

Jan 12, 2009

It's been a year since my surgery.  I feel good.  People tell me I look great.  It seems all is well at the moment.
My youngest child turned 13 last week.  I have no more adolescents.  I have become the mother of teenagers.  I have to say that I have great kids.  I couldn't ask for better.  My son will be driving in less than 2 months.   My husband is joining the navy reserves this week.  It seems that there's change all around me.  I'm so thankful to God that I have Him to depend on.  He's the only constant in my life.  He's always there when I need Him.  He's the reason I have been able to handle all of the surgery "stuff".
Be blessed.

A new job

Sep 11, 2008

It's been nine months since my surgery.  I have to say that I'm feeling much better.  I'm working out now.  I generally walk/jog 3 miles on the treadmill.  The first time I was able to jog again was wonderful.  I love the feeling I get when I run.  My knees however tell a different story. lol  I had to have a cortisone shot in my right knee.  It's my second one.  That is really uncomfortable.  I have to wear a brace when I exercise.  I don't know which is worse; having the shot or wearing the brace.  I doesn't really matter I guess.  I do get to exercise.
I started a new job this past Monday.  I teach 3 and four year olds.  I have to say the first two days were HORRIBLE!!  They tested me and tried me just to see what they could get away with.  The majority of the class was in time out at some point during the day.  As the days have gone by it is getting a little easier.  I have to say that my biggest challenge is in the afternoon when I get school age kids on top of the ones I already have.  I have thirteen 3 and 4 yr. olds and then they add 7-8 afterschool kids on top of that.  It's VERY hard some days.
With all that being said I feel better than I have in a long time.  I couldn't do this new job if I hadn't lost the weight.  I'm very blessed that God gave me this new opportunity.
I wish you peace and favor on your weight loss journeys.
Be Blessed,
Anna

6 Months Out

Jul 13, 2008

It's been six months since my surgery.  I'm doing well.  I haven't lost as much at this point as I thought I would but that's okay.  I'm finally getting used to eating with my band.  It's been a crazy road but I'd do it all again.  It's all about taking it one day at a time.

Peace

ONEDERLAND!! YEAH BABY YEAH!!!

May 27, 2008

I hit my first big goal today.  I stepped on the scale and saw 199.  I couldn't believe that I was standing on the scale and there was a one as the first number. I haven't seen that in probably ten years.   Of course it's silly but I took a picture of it.  I then went and danced the happy dance for a while.  It's a great feeling to know that I really can do this.
Be Blessed!

Hair loss

May 05, 2008

I've had issues with hair loss lately.  It seems like I'm losing alot.  I had very thick hair now I don't.  I'm trying to get my protein in every day.  I'm having trouble with that.  I eat all of the protein I can.  I also drink protein shakes and eat protein bars and it's not enough.  My doctor said it could also be hormonal. My estrogen is very low.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  I would be grateful.
Peace

Fill Time

Apr 09, 2008

I had another fill today.  It was a small one. I now have 2.3 cc's in my band.  I think that will do it for a while.  I'm ready to get the show on the road.  Last month I had gained 3 pounds back.  I think it was water weight.  My body is finally letting go of it.  Praise the Lord!  It's very discouraging when you step on the scale and it goes up when you don't eat anything.  I am losing inches though.  I started taking my measurements when I came home from surgery.  I just took them again.  Here are the results:

Jan 2008
Upper Chest      45.5
Chest               48.0
Waist               46.5
Stomach           50.5
Thighs              39.5

April 2008
Upper Chest      42.5
Chest               46.75
Waist               41.5
Stomach           47.5
Thighs              36.0

When I look at these numbers I don't feel so bad. LOL
Be blessed!

Hiking

Mar 31, 2008

We just got back from vacation.  We went camping in Arkansas at a place called Village Creek.  It was a very relaxing vacation.  Besides our two kids we took an extra three teenagers.  We had FIVE teenagers with us and we had a great time.   My husband took them fishing and we all went on nature hikes.  The longest one was about 3.5 miles.  It was awesome!  It was part of of the historical "Trail of Tears".  Just to see the terrain that they had to endure was amazing.
We roasted marshmallows and had smores at night while we watched movies by the fire.  It was great.  I hope we can do it again.
