I went through the whole WLS approval process back in 2003, but couldn't get insurance approval under my husband's insurance at that time.

I had undergone the psych eval, had the letter of referral from my primary, etc. and everything was no-go.

My husband's employer is not employee friendly, nor are the insurance companies that they select.  I gave up trying to pursue WLS until I recently became eligible for insurance through my employer.

I now am covered by BCBS of Michigan, Community Blue PPO and should have no problem receiving approval for the surgery.  There are several people at work who have used this insurance and had WLS.  I personally know of four people, and I am sure that there are others as well.

So, as soon as I became eligible in October, I started the ball rolling again and have to start at the beginning since none of the documentation or evals from 2003 can be used for approval almost 5 years later.  Oh well...doesn't matter so long as it works this time around!
