Hello everyone!

My name is April Marie.

I have been a big girl since I can remember. I grew up in a small town in central Illinois. My parents divorced when I was 10 and then my weight went to hell.  My father did his best raising my younger brother and me. Our eating habits where not the greatest and it didn't help that my father was so over-protective of me, that I wasn't allowed to go and run with my friends like my brother was. I had to stay at home and make sure dishes was done, laundry was done, house was cleaned up and had to take care of my brother. From age 10 to age 15, I was a bird in a cage...not allowed to be free.
Well, enter depression and suicidal thoughts. I was also being molested by a family member during this time and years before.  I turned to the one thing I had access to...food.  Food was my drug! Salty, sweet, sticky, spicy, sour, I loved it all!
My father remarried when I was 15. I was able to hang out with friends, go on walks and get a job. I lost 50 pounds that summer and when I went back to school, people noticed. But...I was scared.  I wasn't used to all the good attention. I only experienced the negative. Teasing and taunts were everyday.
I graduated school at 300 pounds. When that happened, I started to get into drugs. I didn't like  who I was becomming. So, I left central Illinois to move to southern Illinois to live with my grandmother.
Fast forward through an engagement, a wedding, a divorce...2000 I moved back to central Illinois. I weighed 400 pounds. I felt worthless and very depressed.
I lost my bestfriend in a fire in 2000 also.  She was the only light in my life.
I put on my "big girl panties" and went on with life, always keeping her memory with me.
I had my son in 2002.
I had my daughter in 2009.
Since my son was born, I have had many moments when I could have just given up. BUT, my children are my rock!
My son was diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome, PTSD, OCD, ODD, Sensory Integration, Emotional Disab., Anger issues and Anxiey with depression. So, it has been full of being the BEST advocate for him!
So now, I am a full-time college student with two children and getting ready for some big changes in our lives.
My son is going to residental treatment, I am in the beginning steps of getting weight loss surgery, my daughter starts pre-k and my fiance and I are getting our first place together! A lot of excitement!
I will update with more to come!
