Hey all,
My name is April and I am a 27 year old 5th grade teacher from Alabama. I am the oldest of five chilren and have very loving parents. I have been married for almost five years to a wonderful man. I am extremely excited about my upcoming surgery.
I have been steadily gaining weight since about the sixth grade. I hadn't had anything tramatic happen in my life at that point, unless you count starting middle school, to help put on the weight. Truth is, I come from a long line of heavy women. Women that don't cook anything out of a box (they love to cook from scratch), and they expect you to eat everything that's on your plate!
It has been a constant struggle to lose weight and keep it off. I have tried tons of programs, all the standard ones and even some not so standard ones. My mom finally had WLS about 6 years ago and she hasn't been the same since! She has changed for the better. I had been debating on whether or not to have the surgery for the last 3 years, and I finally decided it is the right thing to do. I am scheduled to have my surgey on April 28th in Anniston.
The process has been fairly easy. Making the decision to do it was much tougher. My WL surgeon, Dr. Freeman, and his staff have been phenomenal! No matter how many times I call, or how many questions I have, they are kind and patient. They submitted all of my information and I was approved in 2 weeks!
I am so excited!!!!!
