Long time no see, again!!!

Oct 24, 2008

Okay, so it has been a long time since I have checked in on my page. So...here is the latest.....
I went for my 4 month (technically 5th month) check up in September. I weighed in at 223 pounds and had a low protein count. My doctor fussed at me just a little, and then encouraged me to be more diligent abut getting my protein in. This morning I weighed in at 202 pounds!! I am almost under 200. I have not weight 200 pounds since the 6th grade! I am so excited. I will post pics as soon as I hit 199!

First Support Group Meeting!

Jul 12, 2008

I went to my first support group meeting today and really enjoyed it. They meet the second and fourth Saturday of the month and after the meeting they go to Logan's for lunch (my kind of people). I got to hear stories from men and women who are 3-5 years out. It was really nice. I definitely will keep going.

Moved the scale even more!!

Jul 11, 2008

Okay, so I got up this morning and the scale officially said 225 pounds!! I am so excited. I think it is because I am trying to bump up my protein a little more each week. I am also working on limiting my fats and carbs more. Only 26 more pounds to go before I hit onderland. I am hoping to reach it by August 25th, that is my next appointment with my surgeon. Wish me luck!

Moved the scale!

Jul 09, 2008

Okay, so I have been stuck at a 53 pound loss for a couple of weeks now and this morning I was so excited because I had come down 10 ounces. That is almost a pound!! Anyway, I have been going to the gym and doing lots of strenght training in conjuntion with my cardio so I figured my body is just adjusting to that. I know I will start dropping again soon. I have rediscovered the Arby's roast beef sandwich. I leave the bread, but the meat is so good with a little bit of their honey mustard dressing. It takes me like 2 hours to eat it (mostly because I am always trying to do some work), but it is so worth the time. I love it.

Happy Fourth of July Everyone!!!

Jul 03, 2008

Hey all, I just wanted to pop in and say "Happy 4th of July"! This is sort of my debut weekend. A lot of my family have not seen me in a while. I am off to find something that will make me the prettiest bell at the ball!!

Long time no see!!!

Jul 02, 2008

Okay, I realize that it has been a long time since I have posted anything. Today was my last day teaching summer school and I am so glad!! I get to rest for a month before going back to school. Actually, that is not true. I have been in my classroom getting it ready for the last 3 weeks and I will continue until everything is perfect. I am a bit of a nut when it comes to my classroom. Anyhoo, I have lost 50 pounds so far. I hit the two month mark on the 28th of June. I am hoping to lose 20-30 more pounds in the next 6 weeks. 30 pounds would put me square at 200 pounds. I am also wearing a size 20 pants (down from a 24) and a size 16/18 shirt (down from an 18/20 sometimes a 20/22). I am super excited. I am going to keep chugging along. I will post some pictures soon.

Five weeks out!!

Jun 08, 2008

Okay, it's been a long time since I have posted anything. Summer school has started and I have just been busy with my third graders. Anyway, I went for my first month check up this past Monday. It was actually five weeks out instead of four. Turns out I was down 33 pounds!! I was so excited. Unfortunately, my protein was down as well as my hemoglobin. In other words, I need more protein and more water. The nurse said that is common for newly post-op patients. I am working on it. I told my nurse that I had been throwing up my meds. She suggested that I take a prenatal vitamin and citrical petites and see how they work out. So far so good!! My meds are staying down.

No meat!!!

May 24, 2008

Okay, I have been throwing up lately and I think I have figured out the problem. Meat. I have decided that even though my food list says that I can eat deli turkey, dark meat chicken, and taco meat, I can not do it. I can't get it chewed up enough to go all the way down. I am sick of tuna, so I have decided to try pink salmon in a can. I had it for breakfast, and so far so good.

New favorite food

May 07, 2008

This is my new protein packed favorite meal. I take 2 pieces of Sara Lee honey turkey, shaved, a teaspoon of pinto beans and some cheese. I spread out the meat, put the pinto beans and cheese on one end, roll it up and bake it in the oven until the cheese melts. It is the most delicious thing I have ever tasted right now. Just wanted to share.

No more drains!!

May 06, 2008

I got my drains out yesterday!! I can finally have soft proteins. They took out my staples as well. Surprisingly, they did not hurt coming out. The only thing that left a sting were the drains. I had two nurses so they pulled them out at the same time. It was kind like stubbing your toe really hard, it hurts for a minute or two, then the pain just goes away. I had a couple of bites of bacon and eggs yesterday for a late breakfast and tuna salad for dinner. I woke up in the middle of the night feeling like someone was standing on my chest. I took some gas-x and felt better by morning. I walked to Walgreens ( about half a mile away from my house) and picked up some peanut butter that I plan on trying out for lunch today. I am officially 14 pounds down in a week. I am so excited.
