My story is a long one...too long to post here. Basically overweight child with low to no self esteem grows into overweight low to no self esteem adult. Survivor of child abuse, paternal alcoholism and maternal mental illness. I do not use the word survivor lightly. Although not a religous person, it is a miracle that I did survive. The rest of my siblings did not & are still trapped in that disfunctional horror. Married for 8 yrs to high school love. No children. Herd of cats...2 mine, 1 his, 1 stray, & 1 ferrill...5 in all!! 1 dog named Java, rescue dog "purchased" with prison currency (pack of smokes) from some neighborhood low lifes. Been in the business of developmental disabilities professionally for 21 yrs. At the same organization for 18 yrs. I escaped the craziness of my childhood to join the fight against it through my work. All in all, I have turned out okay. I have a wonderful husband & fabulous friends. Having gastric bypass has given me a brand new life for me.
