I have struggled with my weight since I was nine years old. By the age of 14, I weighed 230 lbs and I was 4'11". At that point , I started working out for 2-3 hours per day and lost 85 lbs in a few months. I eventually got down to about 103 lbs @ 5'1". I had been on a no/low fat diet my entire life because I had very high cholestorol. By the age of 17, I was experiencing girl issues and the only answer the doctors would give me was to put me on the pill. I immediately regained 30 lbs in two weeks. I was crestfallen-so off the pill I went. My weight pretty much stayed in until After I had my son in 1994. The doctors put me on the pill again- In two months I gained 84 lbs. I went off the pill, lost some of the weight- but it doesn't stay off. I was diagnosed with PCOS in 2001( officially). In 2006, I went to have a cardiac work up because of my history and 45 min later I was having emergency heart surgery I had another one a month later. At age 33, I was diagnosed with Coronary Artery Disease. By Febuary of 2007, I was diagnosed with a genetic deformity call Homozygous Familial Hyperlipidemia. Most people with this one in a million condition don't live past 30. So we found out that I was dying. I immediately started researching options. This surgery might savemy life...not 20 years from now- but right now. Even if it gives me five more years, it will be worth it.
