I guess I need to tell a little about myself. I have always had a weight problem. I had problems up until 10th grade in high school, during the summer and beginning of 11th grade, I dropped 70 pounds in 3 months and went from being obese to a good size. I kept that weight off for 10 years. During that 10 year period of time my weight fluctuated between 118 to 160. In 1995, I started working a job 60 miles away from home, which meant I was eating out 2-3 times a day. I also stopped smoking during that time. I gained more than 100 pounds in 3 months. I have been battling this weight gain for 11 years now. I lost down to 180. When that ended less than a year later, I had more ups and downs. Shortly thereafter I got pregnant. I wish I could say that where I am now is because I had a baby but that isn't the case. When I got pregnant I weighed 218 and when I had her I weighed 218. Since I had gestational diabetes during my pregnancy, I had to take insulin and be a on regulated diet. I also worked 2 jobs up to 3 weeks before I had my baby. In 2005 I weighed 189 lbs. but have ballooned up to 265 lbs now. Everything on me hurts. I can hear my heavy breathing constantly. I am having joint and back pain. My skin looks horrible. I decided back in Mar of 06 that I wanted to have gastric bypass because I was tired of doing the same diets and failing. I had double insurance but when I made an inquiry to whether it was approved on either policy, I was in for a shocker. Both policies had the surgery as an exclusion. So of course, I got discouraged. My husband's insurance changed 9/1/06 and it was covered under that policy, so I began my journey 10/25/06 at the Duke WLS. I just found out that I have surgery scheduled 1/9/07. I am excited and scared both at the same time. I will update this again after I return home after my surgery. I will try to get a picture to post up there so I can monitor my progress.
