Hey everybody out there in AMOS Land! It's been awhile since I've posted. I had my Open RNY on 12-18-02. I have lost about 45 pounds. Will go back to the doc (Dr. Rhonda Wachsmuth in Charlotte) next week for an official check-up and weigh in.
A lot of people at my work are off during the holidays, so not everyone knows I was out for surgery and very few know what type of surgery I had. I'm really happy that my boss respected my privacy and just told me to 'do what you need to do to keep yourself healthy'. (I am blessed with a GREAT BOSS).
Well, since I've been back to work, lots of people are saying, "Wow Martha, you look great---you've changed your hair haven't you?" LOL!! And this week I've had 2-3 people say, "Martha are you losing weight? It really shows!" It just makes me smile and feel great.
For those of you early in the journey, hang in there and do what you need to do to make sure you get the medical treatment that you need and deserve. It is worth it and I'd do it again in a "skinny minute"!!
On another unrelated topic, please keep Tim Hayes and his family in your prayers. Tim is a paramedic in Charlotte. During our snowstorm last week, he was assisting a motorist who had wrecked on one of our local interstates. A tractor trailer lost control on the icy road and plowed into several vehicles. One of these vehicles pinned Tim against a guardrail and he lost both of his legs. Tim is a young husband, about 32 years old, and he has 4 small children. He is still in critical condition, but expected to live. Please keep this brave young man and all emergency workers in your prayers---they do so much for all of us. I'm really shaken about this event---my best friend since childhood is also a medic in Charlotte.
Well enough rambling from this soon-to-be 50 year old! Love you guys!
