Hello,

My name is Amanda. I am a mom, wife, nurse, and a graduate student. I've always been a "big" girl, but after my mom died, I started my weight gain. This has been almost 10 years ago. In last 10 years my weight has yo yo-ed as I went to nursing school, had two kids, got married (yes I put the cart before the horse), and went back to nursing school for my BSN. About 2 years ago I went from night shift to day shift. I'm the weirdo who gained weight instead of loosing! When I was on nights, I would choose sleep over eating 9/10 times. So I am the biggesst I've ever been, and I  am ready to make a change. I'm currently working on my master's and decided I should also get bariatric surgery as well lol. But I recently was diagnosed with sleep apnea and enough is enough. With my gestational diabetes history and family history it is a matter of when I become diabetic not if. I want to do this before I add that to my medical history. I started my bariatric program back in December 2018. I should hopefully be ready for surgery around the end of June/July. So far the plan is a gastric sleeve unless my EGD would show I need the by pass for some reason. It's terrifying to think about, but I'm working with a psycologist and a dietician. They require support group participation, and since my work and life schedule do not match with the programs support group( I live in a small rural town), I have turned to online support. I do not have facebook, and ended up here.
