well the scale is finally moving in the right direction! 6# just since Sept 24 !  just 2# shy of where I was in June when some of the weight began to creep back on!
I have ps scheduled in late April as major motivation to lose the last 35# !

update

Sep 19, 2009

well, things are looking up! the scale is going in the right direction again, albeit slowly!  However my thyroid levels are out of whack again so to counteract this, I have decreased my daily caloric intake by another 200 so I am now keeping myself at now more than 1100 calories per day, and most days I barely break 1000 !  hopefully the scale will have a nice surprise for me this week!
I did have a very nice NSV in that I have lost enough inches to drop another size in jeans - almost back to single digit sizes!  just in time for my 48th birthday next weekend and my road trip to San Jose!

long overdue update

Aug 27, 2009

long overdue I know but I hit a wall in May and got abit discouraged (again)

despite getting another fill, I re-gained and sadly it continnued for most of the summer, not alot but that's not the point....my weight is still lower than it was earlier this year but that is a very small consolation ad does not help me feel better!!

I went back to basics earlier this month and decided to follow the words of the infamous Jessi Ahroni - "if you want to weigh 139 # - then you have to eat like someone who weighs 139#"....  which I have been doing - I calculated what the BMR would be for someone who weighs 139# and have used that as my guide - I only allow myself 1360 calories per day!
I am hoping when I go to my support meeting on the 14th, the scale will reflect the changes and reward me for my hard work!

well I  must've reached the "sweet"  spot all lapband patients talk about because  I have lost 11.5 # since my fill on  1/19 !!!  that is 2.75 # per week !!!
I have NEVER had a weightloss like this, Im ecstatic !
I have been FAITHFULLY working out for 2 or more hrs every other day for 2 months now!  Even my "tight"  clothes are loose now... a few more #'s and I will be in a smaller size ! yipppee!

Year in review

Dec 22, 2008

Well 2008 turned out to be a very difficult and frustrating year for me in my weighloss journey..
I started the year out great and lost 10# in the 1st 4 wks but things quickly went downhill in May and are just now improving!
Overall I have regained 15# which is very difficult for me to accept and I went into a bit of a depression and avoided support meetings etc.
Gary's death hit me hard! If not for him, I wouldnt have been able to have my surgery!  I still think of him and expect to see him online to talk baseball - boy would he have a field day with what the Yankees are doing.. lol
August brought more frustration as I had to have an unfill as I was heading towards a slip - luckily I only gained 1# in the month between the unfill and the refill but it has been difficult getting back on track. physically & mentally... I have maintained for 2 months which is good that I didnt gain anything but I had hoped for a slight weight loss...
Big changes in my family have not helped  -dad had a double bypass, back surgery & corated artery surgery & phnemonia - my son became engaged and my s/o and I are discussing living together which would mean a move to WI. for me - I am excited to finaklly be with the love of my life and for a change in scenery and a better job but it will be hard to not see my kids and precious granddaughter on a daily basis. I haven't looked for a Bariatric surgeon in Milwaukee because I wont find another Dr Simpson so I will just have to come back to Phx more often so I can check in with him & his staff -
looking back at all this, I guess it isn't surprising that my WL journey has been rocky this year but its been nearly 3 yrs and I should be near if not AT goal and this is very depressing and frustrating for me to come to terms with... I know in my head that I cant compare myself to others, that we all lose at different rates and that those who have more to lose than me, will lose more, faster - I know this in my head but it doesn't make me feel any better!

I joined 24 hour fitness so I am at least ending the year on a good note

Well enough rambling...

MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR !

Gary Viscio

Jul 26, 2008

I am devastated by the news of Gary's passing...

this is beyond belief - he was only 43

I had hoped to meet him someday as if it weren't for him, I would not have been able to have my surgery!

He was a funny man and loved baseball - a passion we shared and often teased each other about, especially since the dbacks beat his beloved Yankees in 2001 ...

My heart goes out to his wife and young children !
