I started gaining weight during my pregnancies, and never lost post-partum. I continued to gain wgt. over the years.  I like many others; I have tried multitudes of diets, just to gain more than I had lost.  I have an apple shape, which I inherited from my father’s side of the family.  As the wgt increased so did all the aches and pains.

Last December, I lost my grandmother. She was my rock throughout my life.  Never made me feel like I was not welcome, no matter what.  She had two wishes for me.   1) Reach out to my father (her son), and renew our relationship. It had been 18 years, since I had seen him, and only spoke to him on the phone a couple of times during that period. He had never laid eyes on his grandchildren. ((((( I did not measure up to his standards, or to the level that my half-siblings had achieved.))))))   2) Loose the weight that I had acquired…..and be healthy.

The night my grandmother passed away I called my Dad.  On June 24th 2008, my father came to Tucson and met my husband and my two kids.  What an emotional experience, but I accomplished 1 of her dreams for me.  As far as #2, I have looked at wls for a while.  And now I think I am ready to take the next step.  I do not want to get all the co-morbidities that my father’s family seem to have or have passed away with.   I want to live to seem my child grow, and their children grow.  I want to be healthy again.
