My Six Week Anniversary

Jul 08, 2011

My surgery was May 27th ~ everything went very well.  The hardest part was the week before and the week after.  Oh....I just love those liquid diets...haha.   Anyhow, today marks my 6 week anniversary and I had my first fill today.  So far, so good!  I was all worked up last night, thinking the worst and getting no sleep.  Why do we always think the worst in the middle of the night!  Everything went so smoothly and it didn't even hurt!!

I joined the "Y" and enrolled in the Water Aerobics class 2 times a week.  OMG...my first night was on Wednesday, and when I woke up Thursday morning, every muscle in my body was screaming at me.

I have lost 35 lbs so far and I find it hard to believe my eyes when I step on the scales. It's just awesome.

That's all for now!!

I'm getting a little closer - - - - - -

Mar 26, 2011

Well, I've just about completed all the pre-op testing that needs to be done; I'll finish up on April Fools day.  With one more monthly meeting to attend and the appointment with the Nutritionist and Psychologist, I will be more than ready to have this surgery.

I purchased a copy of "Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies".  I had my doubts at first, but I must say....it's full of all kinds of helpful information and it's easy to understand.    So if your a newbie and preparing yourself for surgery, give this book a try.  It's well worth $14.95 at Amazon.com

Happy Times Ahead

Jan 23, 2011

I guess this is where I begin my journey!  The last couple of weeks have become such an education for me.  Clicking into the OH website every evening has given me so much encouragement and so much information, it's just incredible!  Each and every individual here has information to share and I am learning so much from you all.  Thank you all very much!

I was approved for the Bariatric Surgery Program right after I submitted my information to Magee Women's Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA.  With the approval from the Insurance company, I began my drives to Pittsburgh once a month to meet with a nutritionist and turn in my food and activity logs.  I am on my third month and have made my first appointment with Dr. Eid for the surgery.

Now I wear a pedometer every day to work, and log my steps.  I write down everything that I eat and I'm learning to "SLOW DOWN".  At first it was suggested to try eating with my left hand, but that didn't work, it just ended up in my lap.  All the years working in a fast paced environment definitely ruined my lunch time eating habits.  Oh well....live and learn!

So hear I am.  I enjoy all your posts and it has given me such a brighter outlook on my long road ahead!  "Live - Love - Laugh" and eat healthy!
