8 Months and 100 lbs!!

Dec 30, 2007

Yeah!! I'm getting better at this update thing. So I'm about 8 months out and finally down 100 pounds!!!!!!!!! I weigh 150 pounds and have no idea what size I wear because ALL of my clothes are too big. With the holidays I haven't had the time or money to shop for new clothes. I have also found the wedding dress of my dreams!! I have been searching high and low and finally found THE DRESS. The best part of looking was actually being able to fit into the sample sizes...even the designer dresses fit or were even too big. YEAH!!!! The last 8 months have been amazing...difficult at times, but amazing none the less. I can actually say that I would do this surgery over and aver again if I had to. I will never go back to being the person I once was. I hope everyone had an AMAZING Holliday!!! ttyl xoxo

Four months Out-Update 09/10/07

Sep 10, 2007

Yeah! Another update!! I can't believe it's September already, the summer just flew by. I had a great time this summer though. So far I have lost 78 pounds...that's right 78 pounds. I can hardly believe it myself. I am down to weighing 172 pounds and the scale just keeps on moving in the right direction. I am wearing a size 12/14 jeans and medium top. I feel great and I am finally starting to see the change in my body. I started back at school in August and I actually fit comfortably in the desks!! My belly doesn't hit the desk anymore and I can actually cross my legs and put my hands in my lap! Oh, and the best news yet was our trip over Labor Day Weekend. My 7 year old, my hubby, and I went to Glenwood Springs here in Colorado and spent 3 days walking and hiking our butts off. I was able to keep up with them the entire time and actually enjoyed riding the rides and taking the cave tours. We Hiked up to Hanging Lake which is a serious 2 hour hike up the mountain. It kicked my butt, but I made it to the top and man was it worth it! There was a beautiful lake with amazing waterfalls and the best part was that the three of us made the journy together supporting eachother the entire way. The last day there we went White Water Rafting for 1/2 the day and had a great time! I'm so proud of myself and my family. This surgery has made me a better and stronger person. Well I gotta go hit the books. ttyl xoxo

Okay Okay...Update! 07/09/07

Jul 09, 2007

Okay, so a few people have been a little upset about my ability to update lol. So here is a looooong update for ya! Since comming home from surgery I have had 2 strictures, one at 2 weeks out and the other at about 3 1/2 weeks out. They're really inconvienient (sp?) but fixing them is really not too bad. A quick endoscopy and dialation and you're on you're way home. I've had a really hard time eating chicken which makes me sad because it was one of my favorites before surgery. Pork and tofu however are my favorite and my pouch likes them too! I have had a difficult time seeing the change in my body. Everyone goes on and on about how good I look, but I just don't see it. I've heard that it can take up to a year for your head to catch up with the changes in your body. Oh, I should mention that my hubby was amazing after I came home from the hospital. He stayed with me for 2 weeks and waited on me hand and foot. He was great!!! He still does a lot of things around the house that I use to do, he's just been such a great support for me. Anyway, so far I'm 2 months out and I have lost 49 pounds and 30 inches!! I went from a size 24 pants to an 18 and a size XXL top to a Large sometimes Medium. My hubby is so much more affectionate...he can't keep his hands off of me really!! Unfortunately I do have a few friends who have pulled away from me since having the surgery, but overall I have a freat support system. Learning how to eat again has been the most difficult part of this entire process. I have to remember to eat tiny bites, chew, and slow down it's not a race. I think I'm finally getting the hang of it though. Well, I think that about sums it all up folks! I'll make sure to update more often! ttyl xoxoxo

I'm Home!!!!! 05/04/07

May 04, 2007

Well, I made it through everything with flying colors. I came home yesterday and am still pretty ouchie. My day pretty much consists of drinking, walking, drinking, sleeping...did I say drinking?? I'll make sure to update with more detail when I'm feeling better. Thanks so much to everyone who showed their support and concern, I really appreciate it!!!! XOXO

Pre Op Stuff Done! 04/25/07

Apr 25, 2007

Well, I had my pre op stuff today. I met with Dr. Snyder first and he gave me 4 Rx's. One for nausea suppositories, one for Prilosec, on for pain meds, and one for a sleeping pill. I have been having a hard time sleeping because I'm so excited so I asked for a little help : ) I also had to take a test about the procedure, the anatomy that is changed, and new eating and exercise habits needed to succeed. It was pretty easy! I asked my page of questions and got all of the answers I needed and went on my merry little way. I then headed over to the main hospital and had my blood drawn, urine dip, EKG, and answered a million questions. Everything went great and everyone was really nice. I can't believe my surgery is in just 5 days!!!!! I am so excited I can hardly stand it. I'm going to use the next few days to get all of the house cleaning and laundry done so my hubby won't have to worry about it. I can't believe it's really going to happen!!!! Well I gotta get off of this computer and make dinner. I'm sure I'll update again before surgery. XOXO

Pre Op Stuff Scheduled! 04/12/07

Apr 12, 2007

I just wanted to update and let you all know that I scheduled my pre op appointment for wednesday April 25th!!!! I meet with my surgeon first and then head over to the hospital to fill out paperwork and have my blood drawn. I am so excited I can't stand it. The surgery is all I want to talk about anymore and I'm sure I'm driving my family nuts. Oh well, its a life changing event and I should be alowed to obsess all I want right? Well anyway, I'll make sure and update again before my surgery!!! XOXO Oh and Dolly called and my surgery date was confirmed and I will be checking in to the hospital at 5:30am and having surgery at 7:30am!!!!

OMG APPROVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Apr 10, 2007

I can't believe it! I am approved and I have a date!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dolly (insurance lady) submitted my info this morning ant 10:30 am and I had approval at 3:00 pm. I cannot believe it only took 5 hours. I have been bouncing off the walls all afternoon. Dolly set my tentative date as April 30th. She originally wanted to do it on April 16th, but my hubby and I go on vacation on the 19th so that didn't work. I just can't stop smiling, it's finally real. I will be sitting on the losers bench in no time. YEAH!!!!!!!

LAST WEIGH IN, YEAH!!!!!!!

Mar 28, 2007

I just got home from my last weigh on of this god for saken medically supervised diet. I didn't think I was going to make it through the last 6 months, but I did!!!!! I didn't lose anything, but I didn't gain either. My PCP wrote out my letter of medical necessity and ordered some blood work. The poor MA had a hell of a time finding a vein. I think she stuck me 3 or 4 times before she finally hit the jackpot. I am so happy to be done with all of that. Now I'm just waiting for the sleep study results as well as the blood work to come back and I'll be ready to submitt for approval. The waiting process is going to drive me up the wall. I think I must be the most impatient person ever and the thought of waiting any longer for a date is killing me. Hopefully all will go well and I will have a quick and easy approval...THE FIRST TIME lol. Well, I'll make sure to update when I know something, hopefully with good news! XOXO

Psych Eval & Sleep Study 03/23/07

Mar 23, 2007

I had my psych eval yeterday and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. It only took an hour and she asked me about my support systems, my history with food, and details of the surgery. I was just really honest with her about everything and it went great. She said that I seemed to be dealing with my emotional eating and that I seem to understand what I'm walking into. It was such a relief to get her ok and walk out the door. I didn't have to fill out pages and pages of questions or anything like that. We just had a conversation and before I knew it I was done. Yeah!!! one more thing to check off the list. I also had my sleep study last night. Everyone was really great, but I can't say I slept much. They placed all of these wires all over me and inside my nostrils (tickled) and then sent me to bed. It was soooo hard to fall asleep and I just kept waking up over and over again. About half way through the night the Tech came in and put me on the CPAP machine. At first it felt like I was suffocating, but then he adjusted the pressure and it was fine. I left the center around 6 am just to go home and go back to bed. Of course the tech can't tell me for sure if I have sleep apnea, but he hinted that he thought I did and that's why they put me on the CPAP machine after a while. We'll get the official results in 7 to 10 days and then I'll be ready to submitt for approval!!! I have one more weigh in on Wednesday and I'm really hoping that the scale moves in the right direction. Ill make sure to update with any new info. TTYL

Pulmonary Evaluation 03/14/07

Mar 14, 2007

I had my pulmonary eval today and it went okay. I'm sure it would have gone better had I actually known where I was going or what the proces was. I had to call the office several times to find out where I had to go for parking for my chest x-rays and then I had to get back in the car and drive a few blocks down the road to get to the doctors office and park again. It was just a little disorganized and nobody seemed to be with it today, including myself lol. The doctor wants me to have a sleep study done and he wants to retest me for asthma. I thought the asthma thing was laughable. I was diagnosed with asthma when I was a young girl and I have been using my inhaler for over 15 years and he feels I need to get rediagnosed????? Oh, and then he told me he wants me to schedule a follow up so that he can teach me how to use my inhaler.....ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!?? All I needed was a pulmonary eval to clear me for surgery and this guy wants to rediagnose me with asthma and "teach" me how to use my inhaler....I could probably teach him a few things lol! Okay, sorry. I'm done ranting. So now I'm waiting for the sleep center to call so I can schedule that. It's just one more hoop to jump through. The good news is that I'm healthy enough for surgery and I only have 2 more weeks of the medically supervised diet left!!!YEAH!!! I weighed in at the pulmonary doc and the scale said I had lost 1 pound. I just laughed to myself. Better than gaining a pound right?! So anyway I go in for my psych eval thursday of next week so that should be fun. Hopefully she won't say I'm nuts. I'll update and let you know what's up with the sleep study and psych eval. XOXO
