My story is one that you probably have heard before. I am a single mother with two small boys. As I have gotten older it is harder and harder to deal with my weight. My weight first came on when I was about 19 yrs old. My doctor started swtiching my birth control pills. All of a sudden I was hungry for no reason. Once we started to get that straighted out I started many bad habits that was hard to break. Well I already had some bad habits because up until I was 19 I played basketball my my whole life and ate anything I wanted to. When you stop that kind of exercise and training the weight had no problem creeping in. I have done just about all of the diets. I have exercised off and on for years. But every time I lose 10 pounds I would gain 20 more. The cycle continued.
I became a mom when I was 33 yrs old. That took my body for a ride the first time around. I was sick and dealing with post partum issues. It was ugly. It got even worse when I had my second son. The more I tried to work on this weight I would have another set back. I had talked with my family and my doctor about WLS. My doctor said that I continued to put up a fight and that he would agree for me to look WLS. He said i am go young to experience the problems that I am facing. So far I have high blood pressure and boarderline for diabetes. I have worked really hard to get the diabetes under control. That is when the light bulb went off that I had to keep trying. I refuse to give myself shots. I had to be a better example for my sons. I watched my grandfather and uncle battle this diease and I had to get it together.
So here I am, I have a 5 yr old and 8 month old baby and I moving forward with the rest of my life. I want to show my boys that it is never to late to change and do something better for your life. I plan to WIN the battle of the budge.
