"Compassionate!"

"Office staff always willing to help and have developed some friendships. Dr. Beltre has always had a listening ear for me..He did my revision of which I really didn't lose much weight(which is not his fault). He did a good job surgically. Unfortunately things happen I had 2 bowel obstructions but he was right there to help me through it. He is quiet and reserved but always explains everything in detail if you ask. 2014 I was able to get a huge abdominal hernia taken care of (I didn't have insurance before) and he did the surgery. Though the incision in my opinion was a bit crooked he did a good job not only sewing my abdominal wall but including a mesh for double protection. Post op complication I have is a suture granuloma - which is cells attaching themselves to the sutures, which he did a procedure on..the rest is to be written because not sure if I have another one or if it's swelling - nothing of which is his fault. All I know is that he has always been helpful and willing to listen and offer good surgical advice and explaination of what he has done. No aftercare provided other than post op visits. He can be a great source of help in the Hispanic community - they both need to come together."

"EXCELLENT DR!! He did not do my surgery but was my original surgeon's "partner" for lack of a better word.....I saw him when I was having abdominal pain. He figured my stoma was dilated and performed the schlerotherapy and was doing great for almost 4 years but I was supposed to get it done yearly and due to loosing my job and finding one that didn't cover him any longer I had to choose another local doctor. But I do declare - and remember him as one of the best!"

"Very sad that such a skilled surgeon..has gone to "waste" and is no longer practicing. Although he was not liked by many due to his blunt and direct ways of dealing with ppl who were all so willing to make excuses than deal with their failure...he was still an amazing surgeon and it's sad that he is no practicing."

"1) Quiet man..reserved. Not to talkative, but if you ask questions he will respond. Straight forward about surgery. 2) Same impression but am not as nervous around him now. 3) Good, courteous. 4) I think he was behind the scenes, came to see me on 2nd day But I was following orders. 5) He's doesn't codile and 'babysit' your insecurities. You have to ready to do this and be sure you want to do this - and know the risks. 6) Didn't say much about aftercare neither the staff. Does have online links to support group. 7) No he doesn't not have a structured aftercare program, or am not aware of it. 8) He does group session and addresses everyone's BMI and % of success/loss. Very straight forward approach. YOU need to do your homework before deciding this surgery. 8) Excellent surgeon..the best! Had heard lots of negative comments pre-op but he always has treated me decent. He didn't visit alot - patients have alot of anxiety after surgery - and it's nice to have the doc come over and reassure them that everything is gonna be alright and to continue to follow his orders. I wonder if he's just as nervous as the patient - it always a guess as to how each individual will "react" to this surgery. Some have many complications and others don't. It's a wait and see kind of "game". He doesn't have all the answers..every case is different. 9) Surgical competence and bedside manner are very important. With the patient knowing that the doc is there for support after such surgery he/she can feel more at ease during recovery. However, above all Surgical competence will keep you alive!"
