My surgery date was 7/9/2007 after my one week on 7/16/2007 i had to visit my surgeon for follow up and i had lost 25.4lbs.
i was very happy to see that it actually work as i continously doubted the surgery and thought that folks that had it done were just lucky.  I was told by a young lady that had her surgery 2 years ago that this is not an answer to my weight problems that this was a tool and i had to use it to the fullest. Well tool is definitely the correct term for it.  It has been 3 weeks since my surgery and i have not gotten back on the scale and refuse to until my one month follow up with doctor Taylor with the American bariactric Inst. My family and friends that  come see me say look at your legs or look at your chest or look at your butt girl you are losing... but i don't see it. I know it takes time but sometime i just wish it would move a litle faster. I am suppose to return back to work 8/20/2007 i am ready just because of the disability is not enough to pay a bill at all. When i go follow up with my surgeon 8/13/2007 i know he will allow me to go back to work. But when i go back for people who know about my surgery i hope they be able to see the difference that my family and friends see. I have always been a heavy girl and when i graduated from highschool the pounds came packing. by the time i was 21 i was 350lbs and decided to just be comfortable with it. I even got a tatoo that says Big Sexy on my arm. People ask me now what happens when you lose weight... I am still tall. haha. but by the time i was 25 i was 378lbs and the weight was not coming off no matter what i tried. That is when i decided to give the surgery some thought. Who would have known that once i decided i might do it that all the health issues start surfacing. I told my pcp doctor i was interested but wanted to know more about it and she did all kind of test on me you could think of . That was the worst day of my life, she diagnosed me with diabities, highblood pressure, high cholesterol, and my legs were so huge from fluid she put me on two different water pills. had i not inquired about the surgery i would have never known about my issues. I was taking 8 pills a day. lipitor, tricor, lasix, amaryl, metformin, junuvia, you name i took it. I cried like a baby. I told my fiance who i had been with since i graduated (total 8 years) who has stuck by my side no matter what,,,,, that i wanted to have surgery. He was not ready for it, but i left no room for him to decide or give me any input on what he thought.  I had in my mind that no one has to walk in my shoes and no one has to be humiliated when out to dinner or at a bar or club people looking and pointing.  I was just tired and fed up and with all the health issues they werent getting better. 4 mths before surgery i was diagnosed type 2 diabities. This was my call and i think i made a good decision.
