CURRENT WEIGHT 280 LBS.....HI IAM 38 YEARS OLD AND 1997 I HAD WLS. I HAD A VBG NOT KNOWING WHERE MY LIFE WOULD GO FROM THERE. I WAS HAPPY WITH THE WEIGHTLOSS FOR THE FIRST TWO YEARS AND THEN I BECAME PREGNANT. DURING THE PREGNANCY I GAINED ABOUT 40 LBS WHICH CAME OFF ALMOST IMMEDIATELY. SOON AFTER I STARTED FEELING EXTREMELY HUNGRY AND THE POUNDS HAVE SLOWLY COME BACK....YES ALL OF THE POUNDS. I WAS FEELING VERY SAD FOR A LONG TIME AND I WAS EMBARRSSED BECAUSE OF THE WAY THAT PEOPLE STARTED TO LOOK AT ME. PEOPLE WOULD APPROACH ME AND QUESTION ME AS TO WHY AFTER SEEING SO MANY SUCCESSFUL PEOPLE WITH WLS I HAD GAINED IT ALL BACK. I PRAISE GOD BECAUSE AFTER FINDING THIS SITE MY LIFE CHANGED. I RESEARCHED AND FOUND THAT MANY VBG'S HAVE GONE BAD. I WENT TO SEE A WONDERFUL AND UNDERSTANDING SURGEON WHO IS WILLING TO REVISE MY VBG INTO A GASTRIC BYPASS. I REALLY HAD MY HEART SET ON A BPD/DS BUT AM SCARED OF HAVING TO WAIT TOO LONG FOR INSURANCE APPROVAL.
I AM NOW GOING TO ALL OF THE REQUIRED APPOINTMENTS........PULMONOLOGIST, CARDIOLOGIST, UPPER GI SERIES, ENDOSCOPY, COLONOSCOPY, PSYCH, NUTRITIONIST....ETC.
I WILL TRY MY BEST TO KEEP MY PROFILE UP TO DATE. IT REALLY TICKS ME OFF TO SEE PEOPLE WHO HAD SURGERY IN 2003 AND NEVER POSTED AGAIN.

Im BAAAACk.....
Hello out there. I went in for my Upper GI Series today. I was expecting the Barium drink to taste as nasty as it did 8 years ago. It was actually a tasty sort of chaulky drink. I spoke to my surgeon's office and was told that the results should be back in about 2-3 days.
I also spoke to Amy, the nutritionist, she informed me that I have a vitamin D deficiency and that my hemoglobin is low. I will most definitely bring those numbers up to where they need to be.
I will update after my endoscopy on 12/9/05 until then....be Blessed.

Well I did not go for my endoscopy I rescheduled it and the new date is 12/27. I went for my colonoscopy on 12/13 and the night before was one big nightmare. I was so caught up in laundry and grocery shopping that I was unable to drink the phosphosoda (definition: nastiest gag causing substance on the face of the earth) on time. I, being the fabulous air head that I can sometimes be, decided that instead of following the doctor's instructions: 12 noon drink half of the 3 oz phosphosoda with gingerale and then 6 pm drink other half with gingerale and 2 dulcolax. I took it all at once. My husband is never home before 10 pm but that day he came home at about 4 pm. I praise God because if he hadn't been home I don't know what would've happened. I passed out a couple of times on the toilet. Lost all of the feeling in my legs. He says my eyes kept rolling back. At one point I remember saying "No, I'm a mommy and I've got to be strong, help me up and massge my legs and feet and pray." Moments later I was up and about and hearing my oldest DD and DH telling the stories of my delirious state.
I am happy to say that my DH is finally coming around with the idea of the whole WLS and the thought of my communicating with others who like myself have had or will be having WLS. GOD IS GOOD!
I finally answered him sincerely. When I married him I weight 220lbs and have since gained 60, which puts me at 280lbs. He asked last night and was shocked and said he couldn't see it. I have only been married for one year you see. This man is a gift from heaven. He supports me in all that I decide to do, both emotionally, in prayer and financially.

Sorry for my tuning out for a long while.
I was feeling a bit depressed. I lost someone that was like a dad to me. He had liver & pancreatic cancers. This has motivated me even more to get my health back on track.
Yesterday I had a long and busy day:
6:30 am - Endoscopy
2:30 pm - Nutritionist
5:00 pm - Psychological Evaluation
This morning I went for my Cardiology Clearance. They performed an EKG which went fine. Then I sat down to talk to a great Cardiologist named Dr. Alex Kaplan located in the Bronx, New York. He proceeded to tell me that due to my paternal history of Coronary Disease, I needed a stress test.
I went down to the area where the stress test is performed. A cheerful tech from my parent's country, Dominican Republic, performed an Echocardiogram on me. This took a very long time because she could get a clear pic of one of the walls of my heart. The cardiologist came in twice and he and one of his peers, who is also his brother, tried to find the wall. Too make a long story short, I have to go in next week on two days for a Nuclear Stress Test. I was starting to get nervous and then I remembered that God is good and that if he is permitting me to have to go through all of this testing there is most definitely a good reason for him.
My motto: Don't put a question mark where Got put a period.

Thats right I did it.....I did it .......I did it yeah, yeah I'm finished.
I got through my last exam, which was my Nuclear Stress Test. I spoke to Allison, Dr. Gagner's assistant, and if all of the paperwork comes in I can get a date as soon as 3/22/06. We, of course, know that there is no way that this will happen.
I'm just waiting on God's time now.
All Glory, Honor and Praise be to HIM for helping me find my OH family. Without you guys I would've never gotten this far this fast.
Today is my youngest daughter Ruth's 6th birthday. It was pretty hectic. She had a surprise party and a trip to the Bronx Zoo. Then for dinner she cooked pepperoni pizza a la Ruth. All in all it was a day of abundant blessings.

I spoke to Allison, at Dr. G's office, today and she gives me Wednesday 4/19/06 as my surgery date. Go figure, when I first found out that I was done with my tests I was jumping for joy. At first, I was smiling because I wanted to spend 4/18 with my oldest daughter because it's her 15th birthday that day. But then I'm suddenly overcome with fear. Did anyone go on this emotional rollercoaster before the surgery? I have a fairly new 2- year marriage and three precious girls and so many thoughts are racing through my mind.
