Oops...I kinda told my story in my intro. LOL! There is actually more to my story-I was a Soph. in college when I decided I was done with being the fat girl on the colorguard and competitive winterguard so I started kicking my butt walking and dieting but it just didn't seem to be enough for the amount of weight I was wanting to loose.  I started researching on my own about WLS and all the different types of it.  I decided that the Lap-Band sounded the least painful and invasive of them and with it being adjustable when I want to have children it can be loosened for the proper nutrition. Then the next step was to find the actual Dr. who was going to do the surgery.  Well that was the tough part where I live they are wanting around $30,000 for the surgery I was thinking skinny or new car??? Hum... Besides my insurance didn't cover it.  So I talked to my Family Practice Dr. and she told me she had had the surgery in Mexico ugh I thought what a nasty place but I was open-minded and researched the Dr. who performed her surgery...He became my surgeon too...Dr. Pedro Kuri in TJ, Mexico.  It was kinda scary but with my parents by my side we traveled may I add with most all expenses paid...We paid out of pocket for airfare and what we bought or cab rides while there...otherwise it was a part of the surgery cost...My surgery was done private pay which I'm thankful for, but greatly owe my parents, they expect no repayment. Since then it's been a rollercoaster of good and bad...I started off successful before the surgery and lost 15 lbs. and then continued to go down to -70 and continued to work out and be active but with no fills it was hard to get more results. I got one fill and ended up losing about 5 more lbs. But after that my life changed drastically college was over and off to the real world-moved twice and got really sick in the hospital and ended up gaining back the weight I'd lost...I'd decided that I had wasted money and time and some pain along the way esp. when in Jan. I ended up in the hospital with internal and external abdominal bleeding but the Dr. I met was wonderful and has since helped me to lose 20 lbs. and many inches. (my new capris for summer, fall off!) But then the rainy weather again, I went back for a check-up and fill in late May and was informed my port had detached from my abdominal wall and was floating inside me...oh joy! My Dr. told me some of the options I had and that's where I'm at today trying to decide what my next step in the journey will be....if you have any words or wisdom or have been in this type of situation before I would love to know what you think....    Happy Losing!!
