Post Op

Sep 07, 2010

I am sorry it has taken me so long to get back on here after surgery. I had the VSG done on August 26, 2010. I remain in a very deep depression as I had changed my mind about having the surgery and the staff at the hospital failed to listen to me, knocked me out and continued. My surgeon had no idea that I had withdrawn my consent but the anesthesilogist heard me vocalize over and over again words such as "I have changed my mind", "Don't touch me", "I want to go home". Yet he continued to give me medication and the surgery continued.

I paid for 2 nights in the hospital but decided to come home after only one. The post-op staff was really nice and took care of me. I do not blame my surgeon at all. In fact, he wasn't there and has no idea that I didn't want the surgery. He is an awesome surgeon and has treated me wonderfully. I plan to tell him at my next appointment the situation.

It has been a very difficult last couple weeks in my family. I am very depressed and I'm not sure how to live with a surgery you didn't want.  I continue to have problems with bright lights as they remind me of the OR and scare me.
