one month since surgery
Mar 24, 2009
I have lost 25 pounds post op and 109 pounds since joining the program. WOOHOO!!
I am back to riding my stationary bike and doing my arm weights on a daily basis. I picked up a Wii system last Friday and the tennis and boxing games are awesome for an aerobic workout! I cannot wait to get the Wii Fit out of layaway. I can go back to regular food in about a week. I am a little nervous about that but I am determined to continue on my losing streak! he he I am a loser now folks and very very proud of it!!
I'll get some month post op photos taken later today... at the moment I am the only one awake in the apartment. WAKE UP!!

8 days AFTER surgery...
Mar 05, 2009
My surgery took 2 1/2 hours. I weighed 336 going in and as of today 8 days out weigh 322. I think that's a good amount. I like to see the scale going down and not just sitting there.
I really feel as if I made the right and best choice for me by having this surgery. My goal is to be healthier and to have the weight loss help me control my lymphedema so that I can get back to working instead of being on disability. I believe that I am on my way to that goal.
Thank you Dr Trus and crew at Dartmouth in Lebanon NH you did a great job!

Pre Op Diet
I have heard all the horror stories about the pre op diet. I am starting it 5 days early to help shrink my liver as much as possible. Today was my start date. So far so good. Protein shakes aren't all that bad. I asked the dietician if I could add a packet of splenda to them - she said yes that was fine - now they taste like a runny McDonalds milk shake. They are very do able. The hard part for me so far today is that I actually am craving carbs like a piece of bread. I wonder if that is weird or normal?

Finally adding a Blog
Aug 07, 2008
Anyhow, as of August 1 I have lost 17.5 pounds since May 23, 2008. I am still waiting for the hospital to call me and start making my appointments. I want to call them to remind them that I am still waiting but don't want to seem pushy either.
I weigh in at my doctor's office ever two weeks because I know if I had a scale here at home I would be on it every day and that would be my focus in life to make sure that the scale went down. By weighing in every two weeks my focus is on eating properly and exercising so that when I do go over there the scale shows I've been working hard.
I took measurements of my body a while back and at my next weigh in it will be time to retake them. I figure once a month for the measurements will show me where I am losing the weight and in turn show me what parts I need to do more work on.
I look forward to getting to know the people here and to listen to your successes and tips.
