I had a consultation with Dr. Cerabona in December 2009 and was very impressed with him. My hope is that one day in the near future I will be able to go back to Dr. Cerabona’s office and schedule a VSG. Currently things are on hold because my insurance excludes any type of weight loss/bariatric surgery. So I am exploring self-pay and financing options. I am very upset and feel very defeated. I just do not know what to do. I feel like I'm the only one who works for a bunch of creeps who does not cover the surgery. Instead of covering a surgery that would cost x amount of dollars, they feel it is better to keep paying for 5+ prescriptions a month, dr visits, etc. Somehow I don't think that is very cost effective for them in the long run. Especially considering I have worked for the company for almost 10 years now. It just doesn't make any sense...

I had what I thought was almost an epiphany - I could borrow some of the money for surgery from my 401K, which has ample funds. I wouldn't clean the account out, but I could take $10,000. out and had a 1/3 of the surgery money. Too bad, so sorry, Barb...Needless to say the creepy dirt bags I work for have blocked that as an option as well. I spoke to the company that manages my companies 401K's and there is no clause that allows us to take loans or hardships against our 401K's. I can understand the company not letting us withdraw on the money they put into our accounts [even though I am a fully vested employee], but not being able to touch my own funds when a serious situation arises...?  W-T-H...?
