I've always been on the heavier side, but was always able to control it when I wanted to with diet (low carb) and exercise. I was able to get down to about 150 lbs. Now a few years later I have doubled in size and no matter what I tried, it FAILED!!! If I lost 5 pounds, I would gain 20. I was diagnosed with Endometriosis around 7th grade, and I've had 3 surgeries for it since. Before my most recent surgery, April 3, 2007, my OB was suspicious of my having PCOS. She did some tests and between those and the surgery discovered I did indeed have PCOS, 15+ cysts on each ovary. I was both relieved and saddened. I was glad that there was actually a reason to me not being able to lose weight, but I also knew it would obviously make it that much more difficult. After years of thinking there was nothing I could do and that I was doomed to be fat forever, and trying many different treatments (metformin, lupron shots, ect...), I went to see my OB because I hadn't had "the visit" for almost a year. She tells me the PCOS had gotten worse and my reproductive system was in the process of SHUTTING DOWN! I was devastated! I wanted and want nothing more out of life than to have children, at least one. She, my OB, suggest wls and the journey began...

This was the end of October, I was determined to get the ball rollin. I went to a WLS seminar the beginning of November, and decided it was the right thing for me. Had my intake appointment a couple weeks later. Thats when I decided to have gastric bypass. I don't eat a lot, actually, a lot of my friends joke about how i never eat. Because the PCOS attacks my metabolism, I'm not hungry often, and I can't make myself eat if I'm not hungry. Anyways. so after getting a Letter of Recommendation and 2 years of my medical history from my OB it was sent to insurance. I waited over 2 months and heard nothing from them! When I called, they had never received it. I had already waited long enough for me, and already being told once that insurance wouldn't cover it, I decided to get a move on it. I hope to have had GB within the next few weeks!!

I can't wait to start a better life for myself, and be in CONTROL of my body once again!
