Home from Hosptal

Apr 11, 2012

Well I have been home a week now and I'm feeling stronger. I had problems with my revision. While in recovery my blood pressure dropped low, I was bleeding internally. I was put in ICU and over the next 1 1/2 day was given 4 units of blood. I ended up staying a day longer then expected.
A day after I came home I woke up and I had a HUGH bruise going  from one hip all the way around the lower part of my apron skin to the other hip. And it is the darkest purple I have ever seen. I guess I did loss a LOT of blood.
And back to this liquid diet "fun, fun". But I did this all once I can do it again.
I have felt so much better, no vomiting, no acid reflux and I can actually sleep laying flat in my bed. Praise God.

Surgery Again

Mar 06, 2012

Well I am 6 years and 3 months out from my RYN and I need surgery again.
I have a differnet insurance company so that means different doctors. I have been having severe problems the last year with acid reflex (again). After all the test have been ran my new bypass Dr. has told me that the opening at the top of my pouch is to large and that the Dr. who did my first RYN surgery made my pouch 3 times larger than what she does, which has me producing too much acid.
So I will be going under the knife again to reduce the size of the opening and pouch. Lucky me I get to do the two weeks liquid diet and two weeks soft foods once again. But the good news is that I have gained back about 30 pounds more than I wanted to, so I'll now have help taking that extra 30 pounds off. LOL.

6 Years out

Dec 10, 2011

Hey guys it's been awhile. Life can keep us busy. I am getting married Feb. 18th. As some of you may remember my husband of 38 years died 4 1/2 years ago from cancer.
I did gain a few pounds back but everyone says I look better, that I was to thin there for awhile. But I have helt this weight for about 2 years now. However, this last year I have been having a lot of problems with acid reflex. Doctors aren't sure why and Prilosc is not doing the trick. But they have ran tests and are trying me on a new medication. But it was so cool to get to see the pictures of what I look like on the inside now after the Gastric Bypass.

New Avatar

Jul 06, 2009

Wanted to add new photo to update, as I had some plastic surgery done. After lossing so much weight I had skin hanging off my neck, I called it my "chicken skin" . So I had that removed and I have always had eye lids that sagged but after lossing weight and getting older the eye lids were starting to hang down slightly into my line of sight. So I had an eye lift done too. I can't afford to lift my breast or do a tummy tuck, but at least I can cover them with clothes. But my face is a whole different story.
Anyway, I am doing well. Going to work selling Avon was one of the best things for me. I get to dress up sometimes and I have met a lot of new people. And in Aug. I am going to Las Vegas for the Avon convention. So I am slowly adjusting to my new lift without mu husband. As of June 2nd he has been with the Lord 2 years now.
Hope all my old friends from 3 1/2 years ago on this site are all doing well. If you read this drop me a line to say hi. And best of luck to all of you newbies. Hang in there it's all worth it!

3 1/2 years out

Mar 21, 2009

Well I am now 3 1/2 years post op. and have been able to hold my weight at around 145 lbs. I still throw up some times if I eat to much or to fast. I can handle sugers well but not the fats.
It is almost 2 years now since my husband passed, I am adjusting. It has not been easy. I started selling Avon a few months ago and it has been a blessing. I can work only when I feel like it. It gets me out of the house and around people. Avon has changed so much, it is much easier no than ever before. Most of it is online. I have a web site that anyone can sign into look through the brochure, place an order, pay and have thier order delivered to thier home. And I get the credit. it's wonderful. I can even sign others up online or over the phone without doing it in person, any where in the US. I am going to Las Vegas in Aug. for a Avon conference. It should be a blast, I am looking forward to it.
Check out my web site at www.youravon.com/bdeseranno. And thank you ahead of time for looking.
Life is looking up for me. God is good. It was alot of fun going out and buying new business type clothes in my new size 10. I'm so glad to be out of size 26-28.

2 1/2 years out

May 01, 2008

I have gained my repound weight. I guess most people weight back an average of 20 pounds. I have gained 15, now weighing 150, which is a good wieght for me at 5'9" and 56 years olds. And I seem to be easily holding at this weight. Now my only goal is to NEVER gain any more EVER.

2 year anniversary

Nov 30, 2007

Well, it has been 2 years, wow. In the beginning of the journey 2 years out seemed so far off and now it's here.
I lost a overall total of 185 pounds, but this last year I have had three surgeries on my right foot. Bones that no dout became deformed due to years of carring the weight. Due to being off my feet and very little exercise, I have gained back 23 pounds. However, now that my cast is off and the surgeries are done I have lost 6 pounds of that and I am sure I will get the rest off as well.
I am doing well. I still vomit if I eat to fast or eat to much, but other than than I am doing great. I can now eat eggs and rice, and two days ago tried bread that was not toasted for the first time and did just fine with it.
OH emailed me a congrats message and encouraged me to update my profile. Sorry, I have not done much of that, but since my husband died in June and was so sick for months before that, I just have not been as motivated.
Thank you to all of you for the great support you have given me on this journey. God Bless and Merry CHRISTmas.

Trying to pick up the pieces

Jul 16, 2007

It has been 6 weeks and 2 days since my husbands death. I am going to support group and church, reaching out for help.  Everyone has been so caring and loving.
My weight did get down to 129, but I have now gained back 5 pounds. I am at 135, which is what I weighed when I got married at age 17. My health is very good.
I guess I was featured in the 2007 issue 2 of the OH magazine. I did not get to see it yet! I am trying to get a copy of it mailed to me. They had promised me a free copy if they used me. If any one has an extra copy of that issue and would like to mail it to me please email and I'll give you my address. I would be very grateful. I believe issue 2 would be Feb 2007.

Sad Times

Jun 20, 2007

My husband of 40 years, passed away on June 2nd from cancer. He was only 56 years old. June 24th is his birthday.
I had lost 180 lbs. and was holding my weight very well for about 3 1/2 months until he died. Now I am losing again. I can't afford to lose to much more. at 5' 9" and 130 lbs. I really look better at about 145. I am hoping to put some back on once I get through the worst of this.
I have never felt this kind of DEEP PAIN. I feel like a hole has been torn in my soul that will never mend.
