Jan 18, 2007- Supposed to go to seminar today. It was canceled due to freezing weather here in South Texas. It is a well known fact that here they shut down everything when it freezes because too many crazy people on the road. Guess they will reschedule me for next month. Really disappointed. Waited for this day for a very long time.
February 8,2007- Today is the day for the seminar. I cannot wait. It seems to have taken forever. It is supposed to take 3-4hours this evening.
March 5, 2007- appt. with Dr. Fath this morning at 8:15. What a really nice guy. Office is done in western style and is very inviting. He sat down across from me and really talked to me. I have not had a doctor show that much compassion in a long time. He says I am a perfect canidate for both surgeries so it is up to me. I decided on the lapband. I know there have been more RNY in this area, but I think the lapband is my answer. Now I have to start all of my appointments and sign up for the official program and give them my 150.00 to start everything.
March 9, 2007- started the program. The nurse talked to me and I felt like she was trying to talk me into waiting. She kept saying if we do not get approval you don't get your money back. I went for it anyway. Talked to Roxanne Gomez at he hospital and got signed up. She is a lapbander too. After that I went to see Danielle the dietician. I got a new folder with all the important information on the nutrition stuff. Got my labwork drawn. They had a rough time. Bad veins they said. Of course I had not had anything to eat or drink for atleast 10 hours. God I was starving. I hope after the surgery I do not feel hungry like that.
March 12, 2007- Went to see the exercise guy at the hospital wellness center. I had to get on a scale and even get measured. God he was so nice and I was so embarresed. They are really nice there and we can get the isopure through them at a cheaper cost than GNC. Got to make a mental not of that for the future. Exercise. Yuck. He said I will learn to love it.
March13, 2007- Went to psych visit to see if I was crazy, lol. Just a little I think. Had a really nice program. It goes through the EAP program here at the hospital since I work there. I am still waiting for insurance but I refuse to slow down or give up.
March 20,2007
Went to see my primary doctor today. When did the doctors get so young. She is almost my oldest daughters age. God I feel soooo old. Good report on all my labs. Dr. Fath wants me to have a gallbladder ultrasound since I have had symptoms in the past.
03/22/07- Did the ultrasound today. I did not think ultrasounds hurt, but this one did. I felt like they kept hitting tender spots. I wanted to fly off that stretcher several times. I will never say painless to my patients again.
3/28/07- Went to second psych visit. They gave me a test. I missed only one so I passed. Surgery is scheduled for the 17th of April. I am still not crazy.
04/09/07- OH MY GOD. They called me after i had worked a 12hour night shift and moved my date up. I am now on for the 12th. YEA!!!!!
04/12/07- well on my way now with dh. He will stay until I get settled and am comfortable then he has been told to go to work and let me rest. Oldest daughter will stay with my 14 year old and my truck has gas. My new journet is right around the corner.
04-16-07 Went to see Dr. Fath. Everyone in the office is so nice. He said I was oding great and I had lost 8 pounds. I am excited. I get to go back to work and my next followup is in 4 weeks.
04/12/2008 Happy Bandiversary to me. I made it one year and am so much healthier. I can walk, run some, play on the floor with my puppy. I actually wear real clothes of the rack. My band and I are learning to work together. What a great journey I have had.
09/29/10 Second doctor and second band. I have a new band and a fixed Hiatal Hernia. Now to heal.
10/13/2010 post op nutrition and follow up from surgery. I get to go back to work and just have to watch pushing or pulling for a few more weeks. I need to work. Do not like being at home. Post op nutrition class was a good refresher.
