It has been quite awhile since I have updated.  I will be 9 years out in July of this year.  I had a Dr. appointment last week to get my labs checked since it has been a few years since I have had them done.  Everything was good except my Vit. D level was pretty low.  Also I weighed in at 193 lbs.  At my lowest I was 135 so I have gained back nearly 60 lbs.  I was comfortable at 150lb but the past couple of years have been difficult.  A lot has happened in my personal life and I just plain let myself go.  I had an upper GI done just to see if everything inside was still OK and it was so they suggested I go back to basics.   No drinking 15 min before, during or 1/2 hour after meals, high protein diet, more exercise and cut back the treats.  I'm so mad at myself for letting it get this far.  It was sooooooo easy to put that weight back on but it is a struggle to get it off.  Time to take control of the one thing in my life that I have complete control over.  I am bound and determined to get back down to a size 8.  Now that the weather is getting better it makes it much easier to get out and exercise.  I know what it is I need to do.   I just have to have the will power to do it!

7 Years Already?

Jul 24, 2012

So July 20th was y 7 year anniversary from WLS.  I am holding steady between 160-165 depending on the day.  I can eat pretty much everything that I could before surgery but just not as much.  Sugar still does get to me but I know my limits.  I have truly gotten my life back.

Wow.  Seems like forever since I have been on OH.  I had my 5 year check up last month and everything seems to be just fine.  I am maintaining my weight at about 145.  At 5'9 I feel I am right where I want to be.  Still fit into a size 6 so I am OK with that!
I lost my brother July 14 in a ATV accident.  It has been a tough couple of months and I haven't been making a lot of good food choices not to mention the red wine.  He was down syndrome and a very special part of our whole community.  We miss him terribly but have been taking it day by day.  The next couple of months are going to be especially hard.  The first hunting season without him and our first Christmas without him.  He always loved those times of the year and he will be missed so much.
Summer flew by as it always does and I'm not really looking forward to the deep freeze and snow.  Hoping we can plan a family vacation this winter to get out of it for awhile but we will just have to see how things go.  I quit my job in May of 2009 at the travel agency I was working for for 14 years and have now started my own home-based agency and it's a little slow off the get go but I am hoping now that it's cooling off people are gonna start thinking of vacations!  I love being home for the boys when they get on the bus in the morning and off at night.   Lance just recently stopped working out of town for the pipeline.  Hard to believe he'd been on the road for 7 years.   It's is good to have him home and be able to sit down and have dinner every night as a family.  Also I know the boys missed him like crazy and he hated missing out on all their activities.   So . . . . All in all life is good, we are dealing with the loss of Darren and living for the moment.  I still think that GB was the best thing I ever did for myself.  I don't know if I'd be here today if I had not done it.  Good luck to all!   Take care.

Not much new to update.  My weight has been pretty steady, holding in at 145-148 depending on what day of the week!  All recovered from gall bladder surgery and I hope I don't have to have another surgery EVER again.

Well, I ended up going to the ER yesterday.  I called my Dr.'s office and told them that I was still in a great deal of pain and they said that it wasn't normal and to get to the ER.  They did a Cat scan and it showed I have a hematoma in the muscles of my stomach.  It is about the size of a golf ball and they say that my body should just absorb it eventually.   So they sent me home w/more pain killers and told me to "take it easy".  So I'm laying around doing nothing and getting bored!  I hope this goes away soon.  I see my surgeon tomorrow to see if it's shrinking and healing.  Hopefully she can expalin to me why this happened. . . . My luck sucks!

Well, I had my gall bladder out Fri.  Sep. 18th.  They were able to do it laproscopic which was good.   I was sent home the same day with some narcotic pain killers.    I ran out yesterday and am still in a fair amount of pain.  I consider myself to have a pretty high pain tolerance, gave birth to a 10.3 oz baby and a 9.3 oz baby without so much as an asprin.  I don't know why this surgery is kicking my a$$!  I'm okay if I am laying down or standing up but can't sit and it hurts like heck moving from laying down to getting up.   I have four small incision sites and my right side is still giving me a lot of pain.  I called my Dr. this am to see if this is normal and if I can get some more drugs!  Tylenol isn't doing anything to help this pain and I need something stronger.   Looking forward to about a week from now when I can hopefully get back to normal!  Whatever that is!

Gall bladder is coming out Friday.  They are hoping to be able to do it laproscopic.  Hopefully this will take care of the problems i've been having the past few months.  If not it's back to the drawing board!

I heard back from my Dr. today and the tests they did last week on my gall bladder came back.   He said it is  not functioning properly and we should take it out.  I  meet w/him 10am Thurs. to schedule surgery.  I thought I was thru w/surgeries for awhile but I guess NOT!  Oh well . . .

Had my 4 year anniversary check up last week.  My labs were all good and I weighed in at 148 lbs.   I have been having some symtoms that he was a bit concerned w/so they are taking a look at my gall bladder next week to see if that needs to come out.  Other than that all is well!

Seems like forever since i've updated my OH blog.  I'm still holding my own nearly 4 yrs out weighing in at 155.  At 5'9 I feel comfortable where I am at.  I've gained a bit the past year but still fit into a size 6 and am happy with that.  I have struggled with my vits at times but am getting better at taking them daily.   In March I had my Vit. D levels checked and they were WAY low.  I'm taking 5000 IU's twice a day and will have it re - checked at my 4 yr apt July 21.  Other than that nothing really new to report.    I'm so grateful I was able to have this done.  I don't know where i'd be today if I didn't.  Good luck to all of you along your journey.   May you all be sucessful and reach your goals!
