The 1st day of the rest of my life!

Today is Monday, January 31st, 2011 and I start my pre-op 2 week liquid diet.  I got on the scale this morning and weighed in at 234 lbs.  Now I have a starting point for reference.  I am drinking my first shake -Glucerna vanilla and it is very tasty.  I have to go out today and buy more because I only bought one 6-pack.  

I'm having a colonoscopy on Wednesday so tomorrow I have to switch to clear liquids and do the prep for the procedure.  I didn't need to do this as a requirement for VSG surgery but I'm due for one this year and I figured I might as well get it done while I still have a big stomach to drink all that stuff.  I'm certainly not looking forward to tomorrow!

My VSG surgery is on Valentine's Day - February, 14th.  My gift to myself!  I'm so excited to do this; I only wish I'd done it sooner!  This year I turned 50 years old, I became a grandma, and was diagnosed with diabetes and severe sleep apnea.  It's time for me to get healthy so I can enjoy the rest of my life.
