WalMart

May 25, 2010

So I tried!
My favorite outing in the whole world was a bust.
I'm feeling good over all. No pain or discomfort. Able to sit up on my own. Lay down on my own. Go up and down the stairs by myself.  Every thing is good....so I thought!
I figured I was Ok.....I see people posting how they returned to work and everything.
I figured I could go to Wally World....push an empty cart......and look at protein drinks. NOT!
I was so out of breath. My wind is gone. I could walk up and down the street.....what happened in walmart?
I have to go back to work on saturday.....OMG!
Kisha don't panic is all I'm thinking......but how can I not.

Seven Days Post OP

May 24, 2010

Seven days ago today I was banded. I felt terrible post op. I felt like a mack truck hit me. Who said this is minimally invasive because it was laproscopically. In the hospital, they let you rest for what seems like a second. Then every 2 hours you are up walking around the unit. No rest no rest no rest. There was four of us that were banded from our Pre-surgical class that day. Two guys and two women. The men was doing very well. Us women felt like we were in hell. The morning of D/C, we had to do the barium swallow test.....OMG!!!! after that I thought I would never eat again. 1st sip ok, another sip...he must be crazy....3rd sip BB (my band) said get the fuzz out of here. I was dry heaving, feeling dizzy and sick as a dog. My roomate had the same problem.
After I was ok'd to drink, in rolls breakfast at 11am. Lite cranberry juice, hot water for tea, milk, cream of wheat and a liquid protein packet. hmmhmm delicious!!!! NOT! So the cranberry juice was disgusting and so was the protein packet. Two hours go by, and I'm still trying to eat breakfast. Here rolls in lunch. Frozen pureed pear, pureed tuna, lite cranberry juice, hot water, and a liquid protein packet. hmmhmm good!!!! NOT!
And so you asked about the pain huh? Not much pain at all. Alot of discomfort, I guess from gas and the inside sutures. On my right side it felt like a balled up baby that just won't move from the one spot you would like to lay on. And yes they gave me a PCA. I didn't use it for long. I figured out early in the game that it is what made me nauseous every time I tried to ambulate. So I stopped pushing the button.
1st day home was the best feeling in the world, although I couldn't: sit, stand, eat, drink, pee, wash, hardly talk or breath on my own. My family was above and beyond accomadating. They helped me in every way possible. I thank GOD every day for them. I wonder how those banders that didn't have the same support system I did, make it work.

Well the results of the sleep study is......OSA!
I have to have another session. This time I have to use a CPap machine. I didn't have any periods of apnea until the end in the first session. I would've  used the Cpap if it would had happened earlier.
