I am a 31 year old airline mechanic I have been overweight most of my life and I have finally decided to do something about it I am married to a wonderful very supportive woman I have a son who just turned five last week my mother in-law had RNY about 6 yrs ago and I thought she was crazy I did not think she was big enough for the surgery well every thing went good for her and she has kept the weight off and looks good. Then 2yrs ago my father told me he was going to have RNY i was supportive of him every thing went perfect and he lost a ton of weight (not sure how much) and I have to admit I was a little jealous when I saw the weight melt off of him he told me he thought I should look into having the surgery but I was not convinced then last year a two friends at work had weight loss surgery one had RNY and one got the lap band the one that had the RNY is half the man he was before he looks great . I was not impressed by the lap band progress to slow I think I would get discouraged well I still was not sure about weight loss surgery until last fall my breaking point was when I too my then 4 year old son to the fair and I had to my best friend take MY SON on the rides because I was to fat to fit on the rides that was when I decided that I had to do something about my weight not just for my own sake but for my families and so I made an appointment and called my dad to see if he would go with me and he said hell yes and so we were off and running to what seems like a hundred appointments since than and still going.
