Back from RNY By-pass Surgery 2 May 2007

May 05, 2007

Well, I am home now after my WLS surgery.  Was only in the hospital for 48 hours.  Can not believe how different I feel; Have not had any desire for food at all.  I have had to force myself to eat the little 1 ounce cup of eggs or apple sauce.  Found out that I really like the re-fried beans with cheese in them.  It has been hard drinking all of the fluids between the time I have to wait to eat and then sleep.  I haven't been able to sleep more than 2 hours at a time.  Keep waking up every two hours to go use the bathroom.  My bladder is working fine.  The surgery went extremely well;  Dr. Lord was agin an expert at his trade.  He told me that everything went very well and that I had no additional problems.  He did remove my gall Bladder due to stones.  I am now slowly getting rid of all the gas that was used during my surgery and so I am starting to feel human again.  The gas/bloating is the worst part of the post-op time.  I keep walking to help remove it and I guess it is helping.  Have to go for now!!!

Almost there!!

Well, I am on my 5th day of the Liquid diet before my RNy By-Pass on 2 May 2007.  I do my colon prep today and then the antibotics tomorrow.  It is really getting closer and closer now.  I am both excited and just wishing to get over the surgery and start my new life.  The liquid diet isn't too bad as I have been drinking a lot of fluids and look forward to the chicken broth.  I have had some of the best friends supporting me and prayer for me including some people that I have never met but e-mails me with their prayers.  What an awesome group of people on this forum.  Take care and God Bless everyone.

A Little Closer!!

Got the call from Dr. Lord's office yesterday to remind me of my last (hopefully) appointment with Dr. Lord prior to my surgery.  It is so un-real how close it is getting now.  Next Wednesday 25 April, I start my 7 day liquid diet prior to the surgery on 2 May.  I am going to go to the store this week-end to buy all the items that I will need for the liquid diet and then after my Pre-Op Training appointment with Jan on 24 April; I will go and buy the flushing prep.  The time is starting to go by quickly now and the emotions of this.  Will post more later...

It is getting closer

While I am only 3 Weeks out before I start my Liquid Diet and 4 weeks prior to my surgery on 2 May 2007.  My wife and I are slowly getting all the Protien, vitamins; calcuim, drinking bottles and B-12 together as well as the almighty Crystal Light.  I guess Crystal Light should help off-set the surgery cost for us as they are getting plenty of  advertisment..LOL..Anyways, as I go though the anxiety of the next few weeks wondering if I did the right thing; Keep me in Prayer.
