Everything went very well!! My husband came with me and is amazingly supportive!!
So my next step is to have my MD sign off the forms and fax them to OHIP, that will be happening on Wednesday!!
I feel really good about this decision and feel that it will be the help that I need to get back to being me.

I have booked a consult with Barix and Dr. Poplawski for May 11! After much reading, on OH and medical journals and pretty much anything that I can get my hands on! I have decided on vertical sleeve gastrectomy. I have discussed this with my very supportive husband and we both felt that this would be the least invasive, as "least" as wls can be! Okay, I decided and and told him to be supportive!
I am looking forward to the consult and the next step from there. Lots of jitters just about consult!

Hi Everyone,
my name is Jackie and I have spent a great deal of time and energy staying away from any public forum like this! No twitter, myspace or facebook for me!
But as I begin THIS weight loss journey, I feel that I will need some support to help me to be successful.
I live in Toronto, and I am overwhelmed by; 1. the amount of misleading/ volume of information that is out there! B. the whole process! OMG!! short of jumping through hoops and barking, they only way, it seems to me, to not lose all of my mind is just to pay for the surgery myself rather than go through OHIP. But that option is just available to me at this time. So, Arf!!! Arf!! Wooff!! Wooff!!Here I go!
Can anyone tell me of the most direct route to get OHIP funding?
I would prefer to have my surgery close to home, but it would seem that hens will grow teeth before that will happen! I am hearing about 2-5 year waiting list! Is this for real?!
Has anyone gone to Montreal to have the surgery? I have recently read that Dr. Christou is receiving OHIP found to do WLS! Has anyone else heard of this? What about Dr. Christou... any info...good, bad or indifferent, would be appreciated!
I hope to hear from anyone soon.
