I made it to the 100 lb team!

Jun 10, 2009

Yes my friends I have finally lost my first 100 lbs. My surgeon said that his goal for me was to lose at least 180 lbs. I am over half of that. Please pray for me as I work off these 80+ pounds!

Still losing!

Mar 26, 2009

Hello everyone! I haven't posted a blog in awhile, I am now down 95 lbs! TO GOD BE THE GLORY! I feel great!!  This has definitely been a journey but at the same time it has been rewarding. I love the new attention I am getting. It is funny to hear people call me "skinny  miny"  and "slim". I think I am far from those names but hey I will take it, if that's how they see me! I have my 9 month post op on April 7th, I pray to be down 100 lbs by then. Keep me in your prayers as I continue to do the will of my FATHER JESUS CHRIST!

I'm Still Standing!

I'm now down 73 lbs and have been for about a month. I have fluid in my legs which is holding some of my pounds. I am losing in inches though but I have not had anyone to take my measurements. I have went from wearing a size 34 to now wearing a size 24/22! You can check out my new pics! :-) I am now walking without any assistance. I no longer need my cane. Matter of fact, I can't find it! I think my 10 yr old and her friends been playing with it outside. LOL!!

I am Healed!

Sep 24, 2008

Well since my last post I have been in the hospital 3 more times! I had to get my gallbladder removed on August 6th and then I was readmitted on August 20th because my legs were completely numb and I could not walk! I was immobile for about 4 days. I was released on August 27th. My birthday! Only to get readmitted within 24 hours! My inpatient therapist and the home agency suggested that I get readmitted back into the hospital in order to get referred to rehab. After sitting in the hospital for a week, BCBS denied my going to rehab because they felt that I was to advanced to go. So once again, I had to get home care with a physical  and occupational therapist and a home nurse.  I went to my 3 month post op appt and I have lost a total of 73 lbs!  Dr. V released me from therapy and cleared me to go to work. Hallelujah, on this Monday Sept. 22nd., I was finally able to go back to work! I work with kindergarteners and it has been great! I now walk with a cane and the kids look at me like I am crazy but it's all good. They are very helpful. They move things out of my way when they see me walking around the room, "so I won't fall".

The Incredible Shrinking Sasha!

WOW! I went for my 1 month post op on this Monday 7-21-08 and I lost another 14 lbs which now has me at a 50 lb weight loss in just 1 month out! I never thought I would have lost this much in such short time. God is definitely awesome! I give all the praise to HIM. Without him I am nothing and I can't do nothing without him! I am having the time of my life with my children. Me and my 10 year old go the park everyday and play on the playground and get wet in the waterspray park. It is of course refreshing in this 90+ heat everyday but I am thankful that I now have my strength back, wherein I can go play with my children. My 15 year old is a flag girl in her high school marching band at my alma mater, WEST CHARLOTTE SENIOR HIGH, if anyone knows this school, which we affectionately call it "DA DUB" knows that this school has a band that break it down! My daughter shows me the routines that she is learning at band camp and we move my coffee table and work it out! You can look up this band at www.thewestcharlotteband.com. Well, that's all for now. Keep me in your prayers as I work toward my new goal. I pray to be at a 70lb weight loss by my birthday on August 27th!

I am now on the Victory Bench!

Jul 08, 2008

Hey folks! I don't like the term the Loser's Bench because I am not a loser, I am a winner and failure for me is not an option! So I call my bench the Victory Bench because I am victorious!!! I went to my post op on Monday 7-7-08 and I have lost 36 lbs since the beginning of my process. I lost 10 lbs on my 2 wk pre op liquid diet and I lost 26 lbs post op at this point! I was so overjoyed when I stepped on the scale and I was under 400 lbs for the first time in several years!! I wanted to cry and I wanted to shout (praising God). I have to go back in another 2wks for my month out appt. I am looking forward to see how much I will have lost by then.

I MADE IT!

Jul 02, 2008

I am now almost 2 wks post-op. I have not had any complications and I can even sleep on my stomach now!!! Dr. V  is a great surgeon. If anyone in the Charlotte area looking for a surgeon, I highly recommend Dr. David Voellinger of Southeast Bariatrics. I am looking forward to seeing how much I have lost post surgery. I lost 10lbs on the 2 wk. liquid diet. I thought that was going to be hard but after I found the soup that I liked it really wasn't that bad. Yes I did cheat a few times but I kept it heathly. I had a grilled chicken salad. I figured the grill chicken would give me protein and hey who can go wrong with salad! HA! After surgery now, it is almost hard to for me to get anything in. I get full so fast and I do not want to eat or drink. I have gotten lightheaded almost everyday. I am told that's because I do not get enough protein in. I bought several bottles of Isopure protein drinks, so I start my day with that so I will have my protein early. Having the surgery is the best decision I could have made for my life. I am walking everyday now and I have joined the YMCA! Remember, the race is not given to the swift nor to the strong but to the one who endures until end! I am a WINNER and failure for me is NOT AN OPTION!

I started my liquids!

Jun 09, 2008

Today I have started my 2 week liquid diet. So far I have had a protein shake, juice and water, water, water! I plan on having soup for dinner and maybe a protein shake for snack. It is not as bad as I thought it would be. I am a teacher asst. and this is our last week of school and my co-workers are bringing food in and today I passed the test. I walked right passed the buffet of bagels. I actually filled up my water bottle with some of the juice that was on the table. This weekend I wanted to eat at a couple of places but I did not get to go. I thought I would feel deprived but I'm actually ok. I still have 13 more days to go. Please pray for me!
