Bariatric Surgery and Me

Feb 04, 2017

02-02-2017:  Step #1: Age 66 - Attendedbariatric surgical  informational session at a Ridgveviiew Medical 212 Bariatric Clinic (Chaska, MN); the same clinic I enrolled myself into May, 2013 and participated in a 6 month comprehensive weight loss program (nutritional eating and exercise) over the course of the six months I was able to loos 50 lbs. and continued my quest to loose additional weight via the help from a fitenss trainer - I did this for another 6 months resulting in my lowest weight from the time I started (May, 2013) - 375# down to 306#.  It was a struggle then; however I truly enjoyed the gym time with the personal trainer (5:30 a.m to6:30 a.m.two days per week wth the the balance of the week/weekend days at a local fitness center.  I burned out, plain and simple, right before my 65th birthday I could not tolerate the muscle ache; the regimine of starting workouts  locally at 4:00 a.m. (yes, 4:00 a.m.).  I just quit and by doing so, I managed to regain the weight that I started the program at in 2013.  I have now resigned myself to pursue surgery and the life style change that goes with it - Frankly, at age 66; 6' 3", 375# (sleep apnea and elevated blood pressure) my extended life into an anticipated retirement may not be reachable without change now.
