I am a 58 year old caucasian female who has finally reached the end of the yo-yo diet rope. My physician for the past twenty years has recommended strongly that I have the gastric bypass. My comorbidities are hyperinsulinism, hypothyroidism, and hypertension as well as depression and anxiety. My immune system is failing more and more every year to the extent that I had two six week long pulmonary infections this past year and lost a new job after the second one. My knees and right foot are osteoarthritic. My left leg was injured two years ago in a fall and walking for exercise is difficult and obviously complicated by being over 300 #. My husband moved out two years ago and the divorce was final last summer. My obesity was one reason he gave for "falling out of love", not being sexually attractive anymore. I need a job but am waiting now tilll I have the surgery and get past the post op recovery. It was confirmed for me by the surgeon that my fat really does secret a hormone or substance that depletes my immune system. I want to have this surgery in order to obtain a "tool" that will physically help me keep the weight off and hopefully get off my meds related to metabolic syndrome comorbidities. I want to get healthy, strengthen my immune system, and be able to walk and excercise regularly without everything being so physically hard.
