I wasn't always BIG. I was born average, 10 pounds, I think. Not big by any means, but not small either. I grew up with an Italian influenced background of relatives. That doesn't make me bad, just a group of people that love to sit around and eat. Mangea in Italian is EAT! I heard that alot! I also grew up in a home where, what you had on your plate, you ate. There was no such thing as waste and leftovers were very common.
I grew up with my metabolism in check with my growth spurts. I played High School football and Ice hockey. My playing weight in my senior year was 226 pounds.
After high school I went to jr. college and participated in all the good times. I did some drinking but also my playing of sports was now over. I continued to golf with friends. But that didn't last too many years. Soon my active life style slowed, no truthfully, it stopped. That's when the weight gain came on strong.
I came and went on all sorts of diets and at 34 years old I found out I was diabetic. I tried many times to lose weight but, you know the story, lose 20 then gain 30 back.
I am left with what I think is going to be my best tool for losing now. RNY surgery is on May 12th. My new birthday! Stay tuned for future updates!
