Moving alone

Dec 31, 2008

It's been 2 weeks.   I have had some ups and downs but each day I get a little bit stronger.   Didn't realize how much food really was my life but have been able to work through some of the slight depression.

I can't tell you how much weight I have lost because I have a wacky scale.  The scale broke about 6 weeks before surgery.  One minute I can get on it and I weight 221 (that's pretty good 45lbs in 2 weeks), get right back on it again and I weight 234.  Try it again and I might be 230.  So I guess I have to weight until I go back to the doctor to really find out what I weigh.    At my 1st weigh in 7 days after surgery I had lost 7.5 lbs.

tomorrow is it !!!!

As I am sitting here eating my Jello realizing that by this time tomorrow I will be on my way to recovery.

Surgery is at 7:30am - means very little sleep tonight.  Hour drive to Pittsburgh.

My time is getting closer

Nov 29, 2008

Orginially the Dr offered me 12/5 as a date but I was wary about the insurance, etc and took a later date, now I regret it.  I am going to have the wait an additional 10 days for surgery.

Thanksgiving was a difficult time for me.  Made me remember my stressors.   Both my parents are in the hospital (have been there since 10/27) and then the day before Thanksgiving my daughter had to in for emergency kidney stone surgery.

I also had to spend time with my extended family.  These were the people that called me Fat Albert and Garbage Gut as a kid.  Looking back at the pictures I probably was only 20lbs overweight at the most but I was never skinny enough to please them.  At age 18 I weighed 108lbs but still felt fat.  I heard over and over, well if you just followed the diet you could lose weight.  I gave up trying to explain to them.  Didn't help to make me feel any better though.

I have a date!!!

Yippee... I have a date!

Almost there

Nov 09, 2008

On the 11th I finish my last class, yipee!!!!   Now comes the insurance wait.  I have hopefully jumped through everyone of the hoops they need.  The insurance I have now will pay if medically necessary (diabetes, High blood pressure, high cholesterol, sleep apnea,  arthritis) and I have already met my deductible for this year..... problem is if I can't get the surgery this year, the new insurance company will not cover it.  They only offer Jenny Craig, like that helped.

Putting my prayers up to God that this get approved for year.

1st class

Jun 10, 2008

Went to my 1st class(es).  I was chosen for a research study so I had to attend the research class (4 hours of questioning) and then I also had to attend my regular class just in case I drop out of the research group.

I'm a secretary but the amount of paperwork they are requiring is overwhelming.    But the fact that I have to give up my beloved tea is not going to make me a very nice person to be around.
