4 years out (not feeling my upbeat/energetic self)
Jul 16, 2012
I am 4 years out of the lapraroscopic roux-en-y (gastric bypass). I lost 110 pounds all together, however over the past 6 months I have for some reason gained about 30 pounds. I haven't been working though so I'm sure that has played a significant role in my weight gain. I try to stay active but I'm extremely tired all the time and I try to push through it but at times it feels physically impossible. I recently had an exploratory surgery and hiatal hernia repair cause I started having nausea and vomiting (wasn't able to swallow or hold down vitamins), the surgeon said those hernias usually pop up in the 1st year but that one had recently came about almost 4 years post op. I had my gallbladder removed when I was a year out and he looked around and I was entirely free of any hernias. Also my labwork came back recently and I am anemic, iron is at 16 and they say 50-100 is low-normal. All of my vitamin levels were low so I have started taking a mutivitamin, vitamin B1 and sublingual B12. The prescription ferrous sulfate (iron) makes me extremely sick to my stomach with cramping so I've stopped taking them and I see my Dr. this week to hopefully come up with an alternative to getting the iron in me elevated.

I'm thinking I'm at the end of my weight loss now...
Aug 23, 2009
So I've lost 101 pounds. I went from 235lbs. to 134lbs. that's a huge deal and major accomplishment I could never have made without the surgery. I bounce back and forth between 134lbs. and 140lbs. but I'm able to stay in that window and maintain by food alone. I need to start a good cardio and overall fitness workout so I can maintain my physical appearance and weight loss...

Getting ready for my gallbladder surgery
May 31, 2009
So my gallbladder is almost completely filled with gallstones due to the dramatic weight loss. My gastric bypass surgeon is going to do the gallbladder surgery. I really wish he would've taken my gallbladder when he did the gastric bypass to save me from another surgery but oh well I'll be fine. So I go in June 12th. In the mean time I'm super nauseated after everything I eat and everything I drink. I'm so miserable. My TAR was approved in December but they just barely got the hard copy approval in the office this May so I've been suffering this entire time
I'll be so happy to get this behind me...

Almost A Year Out...
Apr 28, 2009
Well I'm almost a year out. I've lost 101 pounds. Started at 235 and now I weigh 134... I'm in a relationship with my really good friend and I'm sure this relationship is gonna be a succesful one cause we've known each other for years. I saw him in March and we hadn't seen each other in over 4 years. He was amazed at how much I had changed. He was into me before when I was chubby too so at least I know he's into me for who I am and nothing less. I can wear size 7 and size 9 pants. I use to wear size 22. A lot has changed with me... Now I'm waiting and saving for breast implants...

I'm getting there QUICKER than I expected...
Nov 04, 2008
I am a little over 5 months out of surgery now. I've lost 85 pounds so far. I started at 230 lbs. and my bmi was 39.5 the day I weighed in for surgery and I now weight 150 lbs. and my bmi is 25.7 I'm only 15 pounds away from my goal weight 135lbs. and my goal bmi would be 23.2. I never thought I would ever see this weight again. My body still doesn't look exactly the way I want it to but the weight keeps coming off so that's half the battle, I really can't conplain. Clothes fit me so different now. Size 13 pants are huge on me. Even with a belt I can pull them off and on without undoing my belt or pants. I really feel like this surgery has completely change my life for the better. I feel like I'm coming alive again. I think my new boyfriend has a lot to do with it too but I'm just feeling really good. I'm not gonna lie though there are days where I feel sluggish like the big girl I was before but for the most part, I'm feeling really good.
I'm Almost 3 Months Out
Aug 12, 2008
I'm almost 3 months out of surgery now and I've lost 55 pounds so far. Everyone around me is really starting to notice which is making me feel better about it. I can't believe how quick I'm starting to lose. I'll plateau and not lose a pound for about a week at a time and then I'll lose another chunk of weight. I'm excited cause I'm almost into the 170s and I only had the surgery less than 3 months ago. Crazy, but very exciting. It's more motivating getting quick results like this. It's been tough but totally worth it. I joined a gym and I try to work out daily sometimes it doesn't work out that smoothely because I am a single mom but I do try. I would reccomend to anybody to get a fitness membership if you can to try to tone your body and keep your muscle mass because the weight loss is so rapid. Anyways I'm loving what the surgery has done for me so far. And I'm extremely motivated into becoming fit and staying fit.
Finally had the surgery and finally losing
May 28, 2008
Well I had my surgery on the 19th so I'm about a week and a half out. I have lost 19 pounds so far which is exciting although I can't tell yet. My friends and family can tell by looking at me but I can't tell yet. My whole hospital experience couldn't have been better. All of the nursing staff was extremely supportive. And the hospital room was beautiful. I can't wait to be able to squeeze my butt into some of my old pants that are smaller but still like brand new. I can't wait to start my new life being smaller and having a new career. I'm still having some pain but not near as bad as when I woke up from anesthesia...
