Plus they were wonderful with my hubby, THAT impressed me beyond belief. They took as good of care of him as me!"

Gail, his nurse, has been great on the phone. She helped me get the ins. stuff sorted out. I'd had ins through my ex, but since remarrying I wouldn't have it anymore which leaves me with medicaide/medicare.

Got a call from the billing office. Medicare had turned down the first claim because they had the wrong information in my file. They still had me as insured under my Ex's insurance! She gave me the phone numbers to call I and I immediately called. It took a good 30 min. but it was worth it.

3-12-02 My husband and I had also seeked a 2nd opinion with Dr ali at Truman Medical Center. After our 2nd appt it became clear that we were not going to be comfortable with him.
Called Dr Helling's office to let them know we had sought the '2nd opinion' and were sticking with Dr Helling. They've now changed their requirements to include 2 attendances at support meetings and a psych evaluation.Which I'd already done, but I'll continue on with going to their support meeting.
I feel it's very helpful to get to know his nurse and ask plenty of questions of Patti and Kristy the dietician BEFORE surgery.
All in all..in the end I'm happy with waiting until may 17th for the surgery.

I wanted to add that Dr Helling's surgery nurse patti and his dietician Kristy do an AWESOME support meeting. They keep changing and adding to it to meet the needs of all patients pre or post op.
Defintely the support meetings help a lot with being able to meet others having the surgeon. Plus the closer it gets, you get to ask all the questions you forgot in the first place!

Well I'm now 8 days post.wow, hard to believe it..well the pain from surgery helps me to remember LOL!
Dr Helling was awesome, he and the med team at St Lukes's are wonderful, positive about this surgery and great patient care!
I've got my appt on thursday to get my staple removed and I'll share more then.
